Im confused....

Ok..I understand how to address the outer envelope

but why do you need to address the inner envelope??? When you address the inner envelope you just write the person(s) address on the upper left hand corner of the envelope and your address goes in the middle??? is it necessary to address the inner envelope?

Most people say the outter envelope is more formal, just mr and mrs. The inner is basically where everyone who is invited goes. like mr and mrs and family. That's what the stationary store told me anyway.

Usually the outer envelope says Mr & Mrs. Smith,
The Smiths and Ms. Smith (for single friends) so on...
The inner envelope would be addressed specifically for those people like:
Mr & Mrs.........
Ms. Smith and guest (if you're allowing single friends w/ guests, or if you don't know the name of the person)...you get the point....

On the inner envelope you would put the person's name like in the outter envelope. You address it to them, but do not write the address. You don't need to put your name on the left corner on the inner envelope. It's like when you have a Bday card, you address it to the person....same way, minus the address. Hope that helps.

I think all u need to write is my jacob whoever and guest right in the center...no addresses or anything else, on the inner that is!

I don't think so because ure addy should be on the response envelope, it doesn't need to be on the inner as well.

Inner envelope and RSVP envelope are two different things....
Your RSVP envelopes have your names and address to have them returned to you.....

Inner envelope and RSVP envelope are two different things....
Your RSVP envelopes have your names and address to have them returned to you.....

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I think I get it! So aside from the outer envelope then there is ANOTHER envelope within that where the invite, RSVP card and RSVP envelope goes?? and THEN there is the RSVP envelope?? Is that correct?

HAHA thanks! I am DIY my own invites...and my invite package brought outer envelopes, the invites, RSVP envelope, and the RSVP cards..I guess it didnt bring the inner envelope..

haha ok..so there is the outer envelope with ure guest's addy. then when u open the envelope, ure actual invite is encased in ANOTHER envelope, where u put mr smith and guest, or something more casual if u wish. Then inside that envelope is ure invite with ure RSVP card and a smaller envelope. The inner envelope just encases the invite to make it look neater and so u can throw out the outer which usually gets ruined in the mail. Is that more clear?

the inner envelope is optional haha...I had no idea either, I emailed Ashley from Smashing Cards to ask her, so don't feel bad!

Since I didn't have inner envelopes, I went googling and found this site- and I bet it will help you out too! Explains the etiquette of outer/inner envelopes and stuff....website
