that I missed my calling as an event/wedding planner.
I was talking to FH the other day, and I've been lucky so far that I'm actually having a lot of fun with this whole wedding planning thing. I really honestly think I'd love to do this for a living. He told me I should do it. I wouldn't even know the first place to start.
But I have a friend (a BM) that also loves things like this, and she feelst he same way. I'm seriously considering, after my wedding, if all goes well, to possibly get into the wedding planning business! Like start off by maybe some word of mouth or taking out a few ads on websites and in newspapers, and working from there. See what happens. Obviously I'd keep my full-time job, but I think it'd be fun to try it out and see what happens.

Laura, you definetly should!!! Follow your dreams and if this is something you love to do, then go for it!! You would get a lot of word of mouth promotion from all of us, thats for sure!!!

I know there are places that offers wedding planning classes for you to get certified Craigslist is where I saw the postings

That's just it! FH and I are ALWAYS hosting parties......
And it was funny, last night I was watching that show 'Wedding Planners' on WE TV, and I heard the woman say 'The one thing you need to be a wedding planner, is to be VERY organized.' I'm beyond organized, it's actually frightening.

I think i saw Queens College or QCC has a class in Wedding Planning...you can become certified in just a few months! or maybe it was York College...one of those 3

I agree, but I think this is a little deeper. I've also used to put together the dance shows for my college dance teams, and was a fundraising coordinator for a massive charity event we did in college. Oh and I did my sister's baby shower too......I've always loved event planning, but now it's gone to a whole other level!

You should totallyyy pursue this! My DOC is a fulltime event coordinator and teaches a course at Wagner College, it's on SI but I felt it was worth mentioning!

You should totally do it. At the risk of sounding totally corny and loser-ish, I have to say that your responses to a lot of questions/concerns that some of the brides post about are so thoughtful and insightful. You also seem to have a great knowledge of wedding etiquette!

i dont hate planning my wedding, because its mine... i would hate planning someone elses wedding or anything...

I think you should go for it! You know I don't post on these boards much - I usually just read what everyone else is saying, but I must say that I've read a lot of great advice you have given and it sounds like you would be a wonderful planner!
