Here's the thing..i am starting law school in august, and plan to get married next august. As im sure most of you know...law school- or any school for that matter is difficult and time consuming.....add a wedding into the mix and im freaked out!
I need some suggestions on how to modify the typical 'wedding planning timeline' to suit school. I already have the reception hall/ceremony site...im considering getting the flowers and photographer done my August....that essentially leaves me with 3 DEFINITE breaks thanksgiving, christmas and spring break, to get everythign else done....
What are some suggestions on small things i can do each weekend ...ie invites one weekend...when should i do the dress shopping? over xmas break? is spring break to close to august 07? IM FREAKING OUT!!!!! if anyone else palnned their wedding in the midst of school, can you please tell me how to do it!!!!!!
i just want o enjoy my and be a happy

Re: Im freaking out!!!!
I'm in grad school which isn't nearly as intense as law school, but I can definitely sympathize with you. Add to it the fact that I live in DC and it makes it that much more difficult. I've found that I've just had to do a lot of advanced planning. We booked a bunch of stuff while we were home for Christmas. This weekend we'll be around for Easter and we'll hopefully be able to check more off the list. Most of the really time-consuming stuff (menus, programs, seating charts etc.) doesn't need to be done until right before the wedding. Won't you be off in May? That should leave you plenty of time to get the last-minute stuff done. You may want to consider hiring a wedding planner.
Good luck and don't stress out too much. Everything will fall into place!

Re: Im freaking out!!!!
I understand what you are going through. It is extremely exhausting. we are getting married July 2007 and I'm booking all of my vendors by this summer(I'm halfway done now). I am also going to look for my dress and my BM dresses this summer. Then my plan is to work on all the small projects on the weekends throughout the year.I'msure it will keep you very busy but try to enjoy the planning. Good luck.

Re: Im freaking out!!!!
I'm in my last semester of law school right now and I am getting married in September, about two months after taking the bar. UGH! I am not doing any wedding planning while studying for the bar from end of may to end of july. Just breathe and it is totally possible to plan a wedding while in law school, just get started early, but dont forget that school comes first.

Re: Im freaking out!!!!
I'm currently in med school and trying to plan my wedding from NJ and in one month I begin residency in Michigan. I decided to hire a wedding coordinator and ever since then i have no anxiety about the wedding whatsoever. I'm actually looking foward to the wedding now instead of living in fear of it.... I highly suggest hiring someone. They can take care of as little or as much as you ask of them.. Let me know if you want more info.

Re: Im freaking out!!!!
I was going to FM you back with this but since you also put it in a post, I will put it here as well.
First year of law school is really like nothing you have experienced. I think you should do as much as you can before you start school in August and then leave the rest for the Christmas break.
If not, you are going to want to kill yourself!
It really is a shock and sooo much time needs to be devoted to school - especially the first semester!!!!
FM me if you want!

Re: Im freaking out!!!!
I feel your pain.....Im in grad school too and I planned on graduating in Spring of 2007...I am getting married June 2007....I didnt want to have class during the last 6 months of my wedding planning so i am trying to get as much as i can done now....I am taking 4 classes this summer (while working full time) and then my last two classes in the Fall of this year....
I anticipated taking two classes in the summer, 2 in the fall and 2 in the spring...so i know how it is...this summer is gonna be really hectic...i wont have a life this summer...but hopefully i can get as much done as i can now and then do lil things here and there in the fall and for everything else i can do during the last 6 months before the wedding
My advice to you is just to take one thing at a time. dont stress yourself out by worrying about the wedding planning and school. concentrate on whats most important to you....one way or another you will be done with school and if you have to...you can post pone school or take it easy one semester...or even post pone the wedding.... I wish you all the luck and hope everything works out
P.S. this place is also a great place to vent if you need to..

I totally agree with Nina. I'm graduating from law school this May and we pushed the wedding back till awhile after graduation because I knew I couldn't deal with having the wedding right after graduation. Law school and planning a wedding are both very time consuming. If you plan well though, both are doable. I think you should get all your major vendors booked before school starts. Planning on the weekends won't be an option because all your time will be spent studying, outlining and reviewing your notes, not to mention trying to read ahead to make the week a bit more manageable. Good luck! Lots of people have done it so it's not impossible, it just isn't easy either.
