I'm freaking out!

I'm freaking out!

Ok so we've been looking at RH and I can't book anything because my fiancee has yet to speak to his mother about contributing.

Unfortunately both my parents are deceased but left me a certain amount to use towards a wedding. But it won't cover a whole wedding.

She hasn't given us a list or estimate of how many guests are on his side either.

HOW THE HELL DO THEY EXPECT ANYTHING TO GET DONE?

I wish he would just flat out ask his mother. It's not my place to ask her.

Sorry to hear that you lost both your parents. I lost my mom three years ago.

You still have time to book a RH. Before you do that, you need to come up with a guest list, so that you can tell if you will meet a hall's minimum and maximum for a particular room.
It is really nice that your parents left you money to help pay for your wedding.
If your FMIL does not want to contribute, then only allow her a certain number of guests, but you need your FH's help to do this.
Remind him that it is HIS wedding too, and you need his help.

Good luck.

I agree, first see if they are contributing they might not. If that is the case then really have to figure out your budget before doing everything, which should be done regardless. Maybe cutting down on your guest list, and then you can find an RH within your budget.

I would tell FH that if he doesn't ask soon about paying and guest list...then you can only have her invite X amount of guests and start on your own. FMIL can be tough... we are running into snags with my FMIL.... everything else would be so easy if we didn't have to deal with some of their stuff!!!!

Oh I'm worried I'll totally explode on her if she doesn't. I'm very opinionated and have no problem saying whats on my mind...nice or not.

If she doesn't want to contriubute she's not inviting anybody. I'll take my money and redo my kitchen after we elope

I know that she has the money so hopefully it works out

BINGO here too!!!! We had MAJOR FMIL dilemnas.... 'i'm sure your parents gave you a list of their friends Jessica, why are you giving me a limit on who we can invite?' Once my FH told her that my family is prepared to pay for their friends if we're struggling that shut her RIGHT up...

The best thing to do is get together - all together - his mom, his dad, you & he and hammer out that list... Be prepared to cut that list though...

I lost both of my Parents and we paid for the Wedding by ourselfs.

My DH's Parents just couldn't afford to help us.

Have a smaller reception. After all, it is just a party to celebrate a marriage.
Make a budget and stick to it.
I am very proud of myself that I have been able to do that. We cut some things in order to splurge on other things.
We booked a daytime wedding instead of evening. Good savings there.
No limos, getting married at the RH.
Not doing STD's, slipper baskets, bathroom baskets, personalized aisle runner, engagement party, e-pics. Having a small BP. Bout my veil and headpiece at Barrons.

It doesn't sound like much, but the money starts to add up. I'd rather use the money I would have spent here on redoing my co-op for when FH moves in.

But, in order to do all of this, you need a firm idea of the number of guests.
