Im FUMMING mad!!

I am cancelling the CW Post Interfaith Center bc FI and i have decided to get married at our hall.
Anyway, i called to cancel and they will only give me 50% back. They have almost 8 mons to rebook. So i called my lawyer and he thinks i have claim at small claims court. The contract said that they do keep 50% if cancelled up to 2 wks before event however, he still thinks it can be fought!!
What @ssholes!!!!!!

Anyone know any laws??

If the signed contract says two weeks, then they have to give you the $ back.
What did they say?
Can your lawyer write them a letter with the signed contract?

I don't know about churchs but I do know that there is a suffolk county law that states any cancellations with sufficient time for the hall to rebook must refund be refunded IN FULL REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEIR CONTRACT STATES!!! Nassua county does not have a law like this but if the cancellation is within a certain time limit they should refund and I would mention the Suffolk county law just because it doesnt hurt to try.

dumb question but is CW Post in Suffolk County?

Have your lawyer call them or write them a formal letter - i would be shocked if they didnt refund after that.

Also, did you pay with credit card? if so any purchase made over $50 is automatically insured - i believe it's called Federal Regulation C and you can get every penny back! Thats why I have only made payments/ deposits/ purchases on my credit card for anything wedding related - it's the only thing protected.

For starters, write a demand letter to them telling them in 14 days if this is not resolved you will seek judicial intervention.

Are you an Alum? Contact Alum association and complain.

You should call Channel 12 news or something!! They seem to cover some bridal rip-off stories

CW Post is a money machine. They dont care who gets hurt, they are immoral, as long as they get paid, they dont care what they have to do.

as far as reception halls go, arent they supposed to give you back most of your $ and they keep a specific amount if you cancel your date more than 6 months before? do a search, there have been many threads on this topic.

as far as the interfaith center goes, if its in the contract i am not sure how far you'll get with them. stupid rule though, you are giving them a lot of time to rebook. ~lacey
