I am sorry, but I need to vent! My FH is in the Army and is currently in Afghanistan. When he gets back to the country he will be stationed in NC. Before he left he put his truck in the shop and wanted it fixed, but decided to wait until he gets home. Now we found out that since it has been sitting there for a year, it needs more work. It will cost around $2000. He wants to fix it because he hates not having a car in NC. My problem with this is that we cannot afford to fix his truck, we need money for the wedding. Also, to top it off, I have to have surgery in the summer (he does not know about this yet) and will not be working for at least a month and a half so we have to save as much as we can, but he insists he wants to fix his truck or get a new one. I am going out of my mind because I don't know what to do about the situation.

take a deep breath. relax. dont get yourself upset because you can wind up making yourself sick. believe me i know. I have made myself sick many times worrying about things
just relax.
talk to him when you get a chance and explain to him the situation. your surgery is a lot more important then a truck
i can understand he wants his car, but he has to understand that there are other expenses right now.
maybe you and him can compromise. for example insteaad of booking a photographer next week, maybe book it in a month. things like that.
i was out of work for 3 months and unemployement wasnt paying the bills. FI and put off a lot of wedding stuff until i started working. I started Dec 23 and the first thing we did was catch up on bills.
We booked our videographer about a week or 2 ago and now taking a little break from vendors.
We have appointments with photographers but will officially book either at the end of the week or next week. Then we are going to take a little break and save up a little then book our next vendor which is a DJ.
pace yourself. pay what you can first, ie bills and compromise with the truck and getting it fixed

Totally agree...Just think, you have a whole year before your wedding. If you just relax, you will figure out a way to get everything done. Many people don't realize this, but the bulk of your photography and video are do AFTER the wedding, and the DJ gets paid the day of the reception.
Of course your health comes before a truck, but you did mention that you didn't tell him about the surgery, right? Explain this to him, and I am sure everything will work out.

Thanks for listening and for your advice! I will definitely start to pace myself and do everything when I can. I know I should relax, and I am trying, but everything is so stressful! But you all are right. I have 15 months until the wedding, so that gives me time. And I will make a compromise on his **** truck. Thanks again!!

Thanks! I am feeling alot better. He realized that he can't be spending alot of money on a new truck, so he decided to get a less expensive car. His grandmother offered to lend him money to get one, which is nice because now he won't get a bank loan. So I am relieved because things worked out and I didn't have to tell him about my surgery! I really appreciate the support!
