I'm getting married at ten, I would want my guests to dress as formal as they would at any other wedding..HTH!
I feel the same way! I am getting married at 12:30 and my reception is 1:30-6:30 ... I am hoping people still come dressed as it was a nighttime wedding.

Re: I'm going to a 10:00 am wedding,
Honestly, unless otherwise stated, I would not wear a sundress to a wedding. I would have to know beforehand that the bride and groom want a casual affair to actually wear a sundress to a wedding.
That said, I wouldn't wear a floorlength gown to a morning ceremony/afternoon wedding. I would still wear a cocktail/tea length dress and it would be dressy.
I'm having an evening wedding, but if I were having a day wedding and people showed up in casual or church attire, I would have been upset. I know it's to each their own, but unless you are told it's meant to be casual, I wouldn't assume it is just because the ceremony starts early.

Re: I'm going to a 10:00 am wedding,
my ceremony was at 9:30 am...and my cocktail hour/reception atarted at 12:30.
You can wear whatever you want to the wedding part, just dress the part for the actual reception like you would any other reception.
I had SOOO many guests that loved the fact that I had an early wedding, and they could hang out after the wedding and not be exhausted.

Sundress, not quite a cocktail dess. Skirt and nice top. Dress pants and a nice top.

Re: I'm going to a 10:00 am wedding,
My wedding is at 11am, I don't want a blacktie affair obviously, but I still want people to dress up.
I guess it depends on the bride and the place where they are getting married.
Can you ask the bride or groom what they are expecting with the dress?

ummm...i did.
people wore the exact same thing they do to a night wedding. with what we all know about LI weddings, you should know that a morning wedding is exactly the same as a night wedding, just a lot cheaper.
and i started getting ready at 4:45am. my hair and makeup ladies were at my house at 4:30.

Re: I'm going to a 10:00 am wedding,
you can wear anything to church at any time.. but you should be dressed formally when you go to the reception regardless of the time of the wedding. Would you want your guests showing up in pants and a nice shirt?? i wouldn't.

Re: I'm going to a 10:00 am wedding,
is it just the ceremony at 10am and the reception later? or back to bcak? I went to a wedding a few ears ag and the ceremony was really early but the reception was hours later so my friends and I wore casual but neat clothes to ceremony and changed later for the reception. If it's back to back I'd go with tea length, not too fancy.

I say dress like you are going to a wedding regardless of the time. I maybe wouldn't wear an evening gown but I would definetly dress up. I got married at 10:30 (1:00 p.m. reception) and most people dressed up. There were a very few who dressed rather causually and it was very disheartening as we had the wedding in the afternoon due to finances not because we wanted a more casual affair.
