I had an interview today and Im so aggravated. I graduated LPN school in August and I can get a job as an LPN until I pass my boards which I cant take until like october/november. Then even after i pass them I have to apply for a Florida license.
So anyways I had an interview today for a patient care tech in the mergency room. When I go there she didnt realize I was a graduate LPN and said she didnt think they were interested in hiring me because they cant utilize me after i get my license because they might not have a LPN 1 position open.
Are you freaking kidding me!!!!!! I am soooooo qualified for this job and why not invest in someone who as an education and someone who is going on to get there RN. This is so frusterating.
So then after the interview I was really bumed and decided if I dont get some kind of job Im gonna be screwed so I went to Perkins and they said because I dont have any serving experience they wont hire me. ***!
I swear to god Im gonna lose it! Before we know it we will all need degrees from a 4 year college to wait tables at perkins. Its not F*cking rocket science! I think i can handle it!

Check the department of education site for FL. Usually places have new graduate programs to bridge school to the real world. I'm surprised FL. doesn't have one. Have you tried nursing homes? They tend to hire LPNs more than hospitals. You may love it, you may not, but in the end it pays the bills and gets you more experience.

I really dont mind working in a nursing home its just that i am ot licensed yet so i dont think they will hire me as a GPN especially since im taking my boards in NY then applying for a Florida license. I can work as a CNA because im not certified.

Do you have to be certified to work as a nursing assistant in hospitals? I did nursing assistant training through my hospital. I'm not certified through the state but with my training I can work at 3 hospitals.
What about other waitressing jobs? I guess all you really need is to pay the bills for now right?
