I'm going to kill FH - Flower related

Sorry this is long!

Ok, so FH and I said that we would spend the least on flowers and centerpieces b/c to us that was the least important. After taking a look at what we have spent so far we decided that $2,500 would be our flower budget - and we'd most likely end up with small, low centerpieces for the reception. That was 100% okay with me and I really don't want to spend alot on flowers because I'm starting to get nervous about the amount of money we are spending for this wedding....

Now, as most of you probably remember my FH works for a DJ company. The company recently started doing uplighting/ambiance lighting and we are going to have it for the reception. We didn't meet with a florist yet, but like I said, we figured we would get small, low CPs and they would be red flowers. We figured that the only color uplighting we could do was red. I told FH that I wasn't 100% crazy about having red lighting - he told me that if I didn't like it the day of they could just turn the lights off....

This weekend we are going to visit some florists and FH keeps pestering me asking if I made the appointments yet So I guess he really wants to go this weekend. Well this morning FH tells me that he thinks he wants branch centerpieces with crystals hanging and he wants to do this ice blue color uplighting for the reception and he thinks it would look so much better than the red. I do agree with him - but I told him that I really don't think its possible to do with our budget - unless we tell the florist we only want 3 twigs Why does my FH have to be so involved for Now he has me thinking about it and I want to kill him - I think it would be different since the RH is decorated for Christmas with lots of reds and golds, my BMs are wearing taupe, the boks will be reds/burgundy, ceremony will be reds, the CH will have christmas music by the string trio so there will def be that holiday/Christmas atmosphere going on - and then if the reception room has those branch CP's with crystals and the ice blue uplighting - it would still be winterish but its a totally different vibe which is cool - and I'm really starting to like the idea for the reception....

I dont know what to do now! Kill FH for putting these ideas in my head? I'm trying to figure out how much more this would cost. Anyone have CP's like this? I'm going to

They are definitely going to be more than what you're looking to spend.

wow to be honest while you reading this both envisions of your decor sound really nice & tasteful it comes down to what you can afford- most likely it will be over 2500 if you go with option two- BTW tell FH to stay away from the WE channel he is putting way too many ideas in your head j/k

I like the branch idea for the reception but branches are .

Could he do white uplights with the red flowers?

Or maybe white uplights in the red with just s few branches and crystals.

Yeah-i agree- everything gets all effed up when the boys put in their 2 cents

i am going to say it will be about $175 per cp, depending what type of braches you get bc yes there are different ones maybe even $200 a cp. Now this depends alot on how many guests you'll have bc of the amount of tables and how many cp's will be needed

I will say that the cp's alone will be over $2,500

sometimes it's good to have FH very actively involved w/ wedding plans, other times, it's like the only thing FH wasn't involved in were the flowers, and when we saw a pic of the sample CP, he was like, that's it?? i thought it'd be more

if you really don't want to go over budget w/ flowers, maybe talk about a nice compromise, maybe 1/2 high, 1/2 low CPs, or other types of low CPs that would work well with the lighting.

yeah we can half high and half low to cut costs.....see what he likes is very plain - just a few brown branches - no flowers and some crystals hanging.....its crazy that they can charge more for that than flowers! he likes that naked winter look - i just cant find any pictures of what he wants....doing flowers makes me want i cant wait to go this weekend and see what they say!

i think all the wedding TV at home is poisoning his brain!

and it doesnt help that he is in a business where he sees so many weddings - so he's seen it all and he knows what he likes and doesnt like - except he forgets that he has really expensive taste!

They are definitely more than what you wanted to spend... I love the idea of the red lighting though since it goes with your colors.

I know what it's like to have an involved FH.. it's a blessing and a curse in itself.. I just think how much worse it will be if FH wasn't involved at all and just drove me around and such to appointments and all the decision making was just me...

yeah branches are more money. I liked the branches too and wanted them, but fh didnt like just the branches alone...So we compromised and did flowers with curly willow branches lol.

these florists are going to kill me - im going to go in asking for quotes for like 10 different scenarios

why is it womean are called bridezilla's for wanting a lot of details, what about groomzilla's??? I think it's cool that he wants to be involved on the decor, it's very sweet. some men want their tux and show up, not that there is anything wrong with that either.

me too.....a few days ago we were saying how we might not be able to afford them and now he wants to go all out on them im like ***??!?!? this is how my FH is though - he gets something in his head and he always figures out a way to make it happen.....he'll be DJing every weekend until the wedding now

do you have a big or small bp? also are you doing ceremony flower decorations?

depending on this maybe you can do it within your budget

how many guests are you having. If you have lets say about 150 guests and 10 people to a table then you'll need about 15 cp's and it would cost $2,625 if the cp's will cost $175 each or 3k if theyre $200

I M GOING TO Hv to pimp out FH to do more side jobs if he wants CPs to be different. I am not asking my mom for another 1$, he needs to ask his mom!
