I am so extremely sad. My hubby got accepted into the NY state police academy and will be heading up to Utica for 6 months training. He is allowed to come home on the weekends but its going to rough.
I am just so happy he got in because the whole process was torture. It took about a year for all the background checks, physical test, medical test etc etc when he finally got the good news three weeks ago.
I am really going to miss seeing him everyday. We have been together for 9 years and I know this is short term.
I am just going to keep myself busy with work during the week.
I am just hoping he gets a job down here on the island when he graduates in May.
Wish him all the luck!! I just needed to vent a little. Thanks guys!!!

Congrats that he got into the academy!
It will be tough, but sometimes distance makes the heart grow fonder. It will make those times that you see each other much more special.
And of course LIW will keep you cusy during the week!

I know it is going to S&ck to have him Away....but It Will Be ALL WORTH it after.
Awwwe. I went through something like this too when FH was in the NYPD academy and I barely saw him for 6 months, so I can relate! Be strong though, in the end, it is SO worth it and youll be so proud of him on graduation day!!

I know how you feel. My husband a week after we got back from the HM got a big job in New Hampshire and he is gone all week and comes home for the weedkends...I hate it, but I know it will only be a few months. It is amazing how much we have realized we need eachother when he is gone.. Like you said, try to just keep busy and the week will go faster

and actually now that i think of it my husband got a job at IBM and the last 3 weeks he has been gone 3 days or more...

im going to feel the same way ... execpt my FH will be training in Texas for canine training.. but its all worth it in the end.

I'm sure it will be tough to have him away ....but there are some cute B&Bs in that area, maybe you could head up mid week and stay for the weekend at some point ?
Don't worry, it is only six months! I know how it feels-my hubby used to be long distance all summer long and I would only get to see him on the weekends-what's that expression-distance makes the heart grow fonder!!!!!!

Congrats to your hubby!! Stay strong...I know it won't be easy, but considering how long you guys have been together, it will be a drop in the bucket!! The NYS Tropper job is a great one! I'm a NYC Sergeant and would rather have that one! Enjoy your weekends together and find hobbies you love to keep you busy!!

Awww so sorry about him having to leave you for 6months but it will go by quick and congrats to the both of you on his new career.
Enjoy the weekends together, the phone calls and you can go and visit him also. Find things to do up there also.
