The winner posted a story about an illness. which Im very sorry about, but if that is what they were looking for a 'sad' story I could have written that too! no Im not mad I didnt win- I didnt go but I dont think it should have been based on that!
I know Im gonna get flack from this and Im not trying to be mean just voicing my opinion on contest.

I was there and it was not rigged they called out tons of names of people who were not there. you had to be there to win...they must have went through dozens of names of people who did not go...It came out of a little box..I was standing right next to them and how can it be rigged if they called out 20something names but the people did not show...it was like picking out of a hat...I was there so I know.

ok well I asked that on the 06 board, so her name was not the first one called out? then I apologize if it wasnt.

I was there too. There were many names put into a box. The box was shaken up and the name was called. Anyone who entered the contest had an equal chance. You had to be there to win. It was more than fair.

No, no problem...This was the first LIweddings thing I went to and I would totally feel like it was a set up if I was not there in person but really it was great to meet the other girls and there was nothing rigged at all..
Ron asked questions about Liweddings and stuff for prizes.
The guys did a ticket raffle for a home theater entertainement system
they had a ton of little papers they picked from for the prizes and MANY names they called were not there. Oh well
Sorry hopefully next time you can come and we can all win something

I am upset that the rules of the contest had been changed. I couldn't care what the reasoning behind anyone's entry. But the rules stated 'Keep in mind that the winner will be selected from the comments you make on your entry'.
So why did I go through all the trouble writing with such love an entry for my DH? We had a doctors appt for him this morning and rushed through a chest xray to get him there. This was a complete surprise for him since he knew I 'wrote something special' and based on that he may win.
I am not begruding the winner, I am upset that they picked the winner out of a hat. Why couldn't they take the entries of those who showed up and decide from there?

the contest did say you have to be present- no one is saying you didnt. Im saying and only b/c I read on a thread the winner wrote an intense letter about her FH's illness, it just seemed like to much of a coincidence, but Im wrong- it was fair as you guys said.

This contest was more than fair. As other posters said, you had to be present to win. I won fair and square. I was not the first name called. I don't see how this was rigged. I wrote the story about our engagement, which is what the contest initially asked you to do. I then went to the drawing, as I knew you had to be present to win. It's as simple as that. I had no idea I was going to win and won simply because I filled out the form and was there. Those who entered had as good of a chance of winning as I did.

I'm glad you posted Hollie.

In my opinion, this post was unfair.

Since I was LITERALLY standing NEXT TO the guy from the shop and was LITERALLY looking into his box as he picked out the names, I know for sure that each person won fairly.

Congrats Hollie and I hope this post doesn't take the 'high' off of your fair win!

had to have been at least 200 and over because they had numbers on them that went over that.

there were many people called who could have won something that weren't there.

The entry numbers and names were on very small pieces of paper. Plenty of room for at least 200 entries if not more. I was satisfied with how the contest was run and I didn't win a darn thing.

Hollie, please don't think my post took away my happiness for you winning the prize! I was standing behind you and was so happy when you were startled when your name was read.

I was only disappointed that the contest wasn't based on what we wrote, just that we wrote something and showed up.
