I'm just curious for all of your thoughts....

Original post by prncssrachel

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts on this war are. I go through phases where I am completely panicked, then when I don't worry so much because I can't control anything that happens. When I mention it to my family, they act like I am being dramatic. I just wanted to know how everyone else feels since I read JennBaby's post about the Knicks game. I think I would feel the same.

I have faith in the men & women in our military that are willing to lay their lives on the line for us. I know they will do whatever it takes to protect us and our way of life. I am truely gratefull for them and their families for raising their children to be true Americans and patriots.

I know life will be a little crazier here on the home front in the coming weeks. There will be more security and there will be more threats to our saftey. However, I am not afraid because I really believe we are doing the right thing and we are waging the good fight- with our without the UN who is more than happy to give Saddam third, forth.... fifteenth & sixteenth, etc chances to disarm.

We will all have to be more aware and not let anything get by us- meaning, if we see something we don't like, we need to report it no matter how silly it is.

I don't think the UN doesn't have 'balls'

on the otherhand...I give France a lot of credit for standing up to the US...

democracy is slow...not everyone agrees...I learned this when I was on a jury...and was shocked that people didn't feel the smae way as I did...it needs to be slow...things need to be debated...decisions need to be challenged...

OK...I know a lot of you are upset about 9/11...but if we truly believe in our Constitution and that people are innocent until proven guilty ...and that these rights do not end at our borders...then we shouldn't convict a man...If Bush knows something...I would hope he would let the UN (and the members of the security council) in on the info...

You can flame me if you will (but I really hope you don't...I'm just expressing my opinion...even if it differs from yours) and I want US troops and citizens to be safe...and I hope that the people of Iraq can live the lives that we do...I just hope that Bush has the good of the world in his mind...

I don't think the war is going to make much of a difference in our lives as they are here. Since 9/11, and obviously before that, there are people who are plotting against the US and that will continue whether we go to war or not. Those 'cells' were here gearing up for a long time, and I am sure there are still some (a lot more than we know) here, still planning and plotting. I fear at this point we will be dealing with and living with terrorism for a long time to come.

I agree Liz. I also have to remind myself of the Oklahoma City bombing. That was homegrown terrorism at work. It doesn't take a foreigner to create terror in this country, and everyday that risk is there. So obviously, with the OC bombing and 9/11, those were 2 incidents out of hundreds of years of our country. I guess the government is doing a good job if the numbers are that small.
