I'm kinda worried, should I be?

I[ already posted this as a reponse to DonnasMom, but I wanted to create a new topic to get your feedback on my personal situation. ]

I am not really supposed to know about my 'surprise' shower...but it's this weekend. Some people are just really obvious while others can't keep a secret.

My registries look barely touched. My fiance told me there will be at least 45-50 people at my shower, so to me it looks like maybe 15-20 (tops) people have shopped on my registry.

We only have about 4 bowls and 4 dinner plates purchased as well as 2 mugs. We registered for a very reasonably priced everyday pattern that can be found pretty much anywhere.I am really nervous that my fiance and I are going to have to buy the rest of our everyday china.

My question is, not only do people wait until the last day to buy stuff?.....but will they get something at another or store or the same store and forget to tell them to take it off the registry?? I'm freaking out!!!

P.S- I swear I'm not greedy, it's just that I've been to so many showers on both sides of our family and know what those girls registries looked like and how much stuff they got at the shower.

when i went to BBB to get my friend something i took it off the registry and then the woman that wraps the gifts double checked if they took it off also when i got home i checked myself...but i really do think people wait till last min and i also seen a lot of money being given now instead of gifts

Thanks girls...I can't help but feel like a brat, but it just seems weird based on how many people are coming. If they do bring money as a gift, that's fine, and we will probably go buy the rest of our registry items with it. BUT isn't a lot of the shower to open the presents and OOH and AHH over everything??

I can't open up envelopes and say 'Marianne got me a check'!! haha that would be so weird.

I saw about 20% of my registry get fulfilled the week before my shower. Most of my guests bought 2 weeks before. Definitely don't rule out money or gift cards! Many people feel like money/gift cards allow you to buy whatever you want. Don't worry about it. ;)

Not only do tons of people wait until the last minute, some will wait until after the shower to buy you things.

Try to go and enjoy yourself and just be confident that you and your FH will have everything you want by your wedding day (or within 1 year after!). Everything will fall into place.

I can't help but wonder if your 'surprise' shower is actually going to be another day, all things considered... that, or if everyone is purposefully waiting until the last minute so you aren't stalking and don't find out!!!!

In addition to worrying about my registry (as of now, we have NO BEDDING! And I know about my 'surprise' shower too - on accident ) I also worry that no one will show up - I've been feeling like no one cares about my wedding / shower cause I haven't heard from my BP at all in like weeks, esp my MOH. I am like doubting EVERYTHING from my dress to the shower, RD, - it's so annoying! I wish these feelings would just go away! I guess it's normal to feel so negative when you get close to the wedding day???? (Maybe not!)

Yeah I am so excited for the party...I guess it's also just nerves. I hope they don't make me play embarrassing games

Oh man, and your wedding is closer than mine. I have those same concerns...in all honesty it's not about the gifts. It's just that when I see no movement on the registry I feel the turn-out is going to be bad. Also, my mom has been really upset and made a comment (after she knew I was aware of the date) that it's not the kind of party (turn-out wise) as she would have liked. Although, sometimes my mom has a bad case of over dramatizing things. It could be that she wanted all 80 people invited there, and we are getting 45. Who Knows

I'm sorry you are doubting so much stuff...but I really do believe that is last minute jitters. This is a big step and it's hard to come to the realization that after all this planning, the day comes and you are TRULY happy. It will all work out...Try not to stress it. I'm glad we all have each other on here, b/c nobody else understand.

It's out of your control girl... so try not to worry about it! Stop registry stalking too!! hahaha!

I think a lot of people wait until the last minute. And also... maybe you will get some monetary gifts!!!!! I wouldn't mind that!!

if they bought at another store and you don't like it... hopefully you will be able to return it.

I'm sorry.

Try to focus on the party part of it and having a good time... that's really what it's about.

And with that many women going.... you should be getting a good amount of gifts regardless!

Alot of people are probably waiting until the last minute. My shower invites have been out for a month now and nothing has been bought of it...grr.

Don't worry about it. I just threw my sister's bridal shower this weekend and I had checked the registry the night before. I was a little disappointed, but everything turned out well. It seemed as though a couple of people went shopping the morning of the shower (and yes, one admitted it to me), and she did receive some gift cards, but there definitely were some people who bought other items that weren't on the registry. Remember, people will get you things they think you may use, and I understand it's hard to get gifts when you may have not wanted them, but the thought is there. Just enjoy your party...trust me, it will be over before you know it! Enjoy every moment and don't worry about the registry!!
