My mom just did the centerpieces for my e-party and did them all from Michaels -- AND she bought them pre-made! they came already in a large vase, white white and green fake flowers, branches, etc. but they didn't even look fake. here is a photo of FH and I standing by some tables and you can see the centerpieces on them. If you don't need real flowers, go to craft stores because you can get some amazing stuff for $200 total for all tables!

Re: I'm low on the budget for centerpieces

Hi! I think I can help!

I'm doing my own CPs to save $$ too, as what the florists were quoting me was way over my floral budget!

I love candles and photography, so I decided to mix both for our CPs.

I bought most of the items at AC Moore using their 40% off & 50% off coupons and shopping sales. Their website has the weekly flyer & coupons (type in your zip code to find the flyer & coupon for the store near you), so it makes it easier to plan what you need to buy before you go to the store. Their sales are cyclical, so every so often, you'll see the same sale on candles, candleholders, etc. If you miss one, they'll have it on sale again soon.

For my CPs, in the center of each table will be a round beveled-edge mirror (my RH said the pillar candle would need to be on a base, not directly on the tablecloth). On top of the mirror will be a black wrought-iron pillar candlestick with a white pillar candle. Around the mirror & candlestick will be 6 white votive candles in glass candleholders. I'm printing out photos of FH and I to put in picture frames in between the candles. Then I'm having rose petals scattered around to finish the CP.

I seriously saved a lot of money by using the coupons and shopping the sales. I made up a side-by-side price comparison list, using the regular price for all the CP items, and then the sale price, and I managed to save about $100 with those coupons, thanks to several LIW brides who suggested it! In total, I spent $194 on all 10 tables, instead of $900 on low floral CPs from the florist.

The mirror base can be found at AC Moore, and yesterday I saw smaller ones (2 in a pkg) at Michaels. Both craft stores also sell the floating candle bowls and tall glass vases and usually have those on sale at certain times of the year. The floating candles are on the same aisle as the glass bowls. Make sure the glass bowl says it's made for floating candles, so it doesn't crack or shatter from the heat. Before buying all the candles, make sure you check the 'burn time' on them so they'll be appropriate for the amount of time you'll have them lit at your reception.

As for rose petals, both stores sell silk rose petals in different colors (red, pink, white, cream, etc). Or you can ask your florist to provide real rose petals in whatever color you'll need, which is what I'm doing.

There's also a website called Surroundings that has a bunch of candle centerpiece kits for sale. You can order from them, or you can use the pictures to get an idea of what you want and then make them yourself.

HTH!

Thank you so much ! I am also doing a candle photo centerpiece. For the next few months I will be scanning and making collages for every table that will include a picture of every guest of the wedding

Absolutely DIY your centerpieces. You'll save tons of money, you can do it in your own time, and you can get it done way in advance. We cut our floral bill probably in half and have stuff to use for other occasions now too.

I paid 25.00 for each centerpiece and they looked beautiful... Just simple white roses...

They were smaller than I expected, but no one noticed, nor did it look cheap.

Find out if your RH has a *deal* with a local florist if you use them...

that's why mine were so cheap...

I did my own. We ordered bunches of tulips and had hurricanes, votives, and bud vases on the tables. here is a pic...

Have you gotten price quotes from florists? If not, then I would suggest going to a good local florist and seeing what they can do...local florists can often do a great job at a reasonable price.

Where are you located? If you're in the Bronx, I can recommend a good florist (FH's godfather0

Hey! I am pretty sure I am going to do my own centerpieces too. I think I am going to buy 3 tall cylinders put shells or beach glass at the bottom of it and immerse flower in it (silk flower probably) and then float a candle on top. I will post somepic ideas for you too...

Does your RH offer anything for you? Ours gave us glass hurricane lanterns with a 12' tapered candle in it and 4-6 votives on each table. Our florist put down red rose petals on the tables too to give it some color. it was simple and elegant and just perfect (and super cheap since we only had to pay for the rose petals).

Thankyou gals!!!!! I will have to check with them to see if they offer anything...... I'm located in Queens. I love the ideas...I'm thinking of doing something like the pink candles (floating) with the big glass. I will give my self a due date and i will start shopping around. I'm going to let you girlies know how its going. Ill probably start next month . I will start buying the mirrors for the base first thats something i want to have.

P.S. All of the samples are beautiful!!!! THANKSSS

I bought vases from Bed bath and beyond. My florist is going to add in floating candles, silk leaves, rose petals and a vine with berries on it.....in total, each centerpiece is going to cost about $35 a piece.

I have a pic of the vase with the leaves and candles in my album.....my mother and I put it together, but it doesn't have all the extras. Good luck!

We will be having our florist do something like this - white orchids (they can attach a bunch to one tall branch) in a square frosted vase for $35 - very simple and inexpensive. Plus we'll be sprinkling the table with rose petals.

I had a friend that did just one purple orchid in this zen garden look for her centerpiece and it was beautiful, which I had taken a pic of it.

You can DIY them yourself, the glass that held my CPs are 2 bucks at Walmart, you can get pillar candles there also and buy them in bulk, then get some votives and put them together.

Also, if you want to do flowers consider ordering the type of flower you want from a grocery store garden center or walmart. This will save you alot on your CPs

Another idea is potted plants. They are really cute and you can buy them already potted lots of places, walmart, target, supermarkets. Range $15-$30 each
