I got my Bap cert. It is not filled out on the back. I made my communion, however I didn't make my cofirmation. The priest asked me to get a letter of freedom. My church said they didn't know what that was. So the church I am gettinng married at said not to worry about the letter. My problem is they never asked me about the confirmation when we had our meeting. All he asked was if I was baptized, which I was and If I promise to raise my kids as Catholics which I did. I signed a paper that he would send to the Diocese asking for permission. He said that once the Diocese answered then we would be set. I am just scared that he may approach me later and say oh you can't get married here! I haven't ordered my invites for that same reason. We are going to do the Pre-cana class, Jan or Feb. so that we could be in the clear,Then I will order invites. Should I be worried?

Re: I'm Nervous
If I were you, I would speak to the priest and get everything straightened out just to settle my nerves! I wouldn't worry because I'm sure you can still get married at the church. But it's better that you look into all this now while you still have time to deal with any problems that may arise.
Good luck!

Re: I'm Nervous
I'm not sure if Confirmation matters. I don't think Father Heinlen asked us that. Why do you need a letter of permission from the Dioceses- because of the no Confirmation thing?
He also never mentioned the letter of freedom or baptismal certificates to us, or when we should come back. He just gave us the pre-cana form.

Tourist , Are either of u guys Catholic? He said we needed it and when I couldn't get it he said, never mind. We are going to register for the Feb. Pre-cana class and then that will be our last requirement we'll see how everything works out after that. He sent the form that we signed promising to raise our kids as Catholics and that we wanted to get married. He said that goes to the Diocese so that we would be granted the permission. Our next visit with him is AFTER the precana class. We would have to bring in our Baptizm certs and the letter saying that we attended the class. THen that is all we need and HOPEFULLY we will be done with that part of the wedding.

Re: I'm Nervous
i can understand you being nervous i made my confimation only last spring one year ago but that was by choice really yuo do not need confirmation but every church is different maybe ask when confimation classes start it only takes two months and it is easier for adults you will be done before your wedding because confirmation is done before easter

Re: I'm Nervous
We're both Catholic, and both Confirmed. Are you the only Catholic one? I assume he'll tell us at pre-cana that we need our baptismal certificates. He did take down the names of the churches we were baptised at. I think we are going to the March or April pre-cana, so we'll have time to get anything else straightened out afterwards.

Yes I am the only one. One of my coworkers told me yesterday that she went to the pre-cana class their and had Fthr. Heinlein as the person who conducted the class. She said to hold on to your hats cause you will be dozing like crazy. She said they never asked if she was confirmed and that, it should be fine.
