I'm Nervous!!!! - *****UPDATE****

Me & fh are going to meet with the church tonight and im a little nervous about what they ask????

any suggestions, comments, anything???



****So we went at 7pm last night and didnt leave until about 8:30-9pm.

we are actually getting married by a Deacon, but he is soooooo nice!!!!!

He asked us the basic name, address, religion, questions, then asked us both together if we came willingly, if were ever married before, related, etc.

then he showed me the book that had my name in it for my baptism!!! I thought that was pretty cool!!


Sorry for the long update, but we really liked him and he was really nice. he spoke about his personal stuff/stories and then gace us a little speech about how its about 'us' now and we cant let anyone come between us, and stuff like that.

He was impressed with my fh, he said he never saw a groom so excited before!!!!!!

The first time we went, they just asked for our names, addresses, the date, and we just talked about how we met and why we wanna get married......but we haven't started the pre cana stuff yet...not looking forward to that class

oh god....um,i mean oh no......i dont even want to think about that class!!! i heard from my sis that its not bad, but when your the one going.....ahh!!

so tonight will be ok??

First meeting isn't much....they take you each separately ask your intentions, your address and such, your religion, if you've had any pyschological problems and stuff like that. After they take you together and the priest asks some questions of you both and you answer to each other. At least for us that's what happened.

PS. Pre Cana wasn't nearly as bad as you expect it to be!

The first time we went, they just asked for our names, addresses, the date, and we just talked about how we met and why we wanna get married......but we haven't started the pre cana stuff yet...not looking forward to that class

Ours asked similar basic questions, but then he spoke to each of us individually and made the other one sit in the hall, and asked questions like are you being force into this marriage, do you promise to raise your children Catholic, etc ...

We also got a little lecture because we live together, but it was just along the lines of how the church believes that cohabitation is wrong, and that 70% of cohabitating couples end in divorce. I respect the churches beliefs (even though I obviously don't share that particular one), so I was prepared and not put off by the speech. FH on the other hand was very offended!

No need to be nervous amanda! He asks you a few questions about when you want to do it, WHY you want to do it, kids? crap like that... And will give you a booklet and some pamphlet about what you need to do. You will have to do FOCCUS and PreCana. Both of which are no big deal... Dont be nervous!!! We just finished all that crap on monday night, its a breeze!! Where you doing it? St. Anthonys?

Mine asked all those questions too and he also blessed my engagement ring!!

You will be fine! We were so nervous about going and they really didnt ask us anything we werent open to answering. When we went they just ask you basic stuff (name, address, etc.) and then they try to get to know you both a little better

same thing for us...but he spoke to us together....and asked us these questions...i pretty much answered them while fh stared like a deer in the headlights

After every answer that you give the both of you just say to the priest, 'that's our story and we're sticking to it!'

lol he asked us if we, to the best of our knowledge, were sure that we were NOT related hahaahah!! and he was serious!! me and vin looked at each other, looked at him and went-- I HOPE NOT!

I thought he only asked us that question to be funny!
