wow i feel like i have a ton of time before my wedding but you have more than enough time i think to relax sit back and enjoy your engagement w/out stressing about wedding planning
i relaxed for 3-4 months then got jittery and started planning my oct 2002 wedding just this past oct...
but you can start by running searches on vendors you've heard of and seeing ppls comments -
there are so many good vendors i'm sure a handful would be great it just depends on who you meet first - who you really like - and how sick you get of going to appointment after appointment
i will tell you from my preparations the band has been the hardest thing to make the decision on
my other vendors are posted in my profile
good luck and congrats on the engagement!
Congratulations on your engagement!
This far out, I would just be looking at pictures in bridal magazines to get ideas. You have the luxury of taking your time finding vendors you truly love.
What hall did you book?
Enjoy!
You've got plenty of time! Relax and enjoy this time you've got. These boards are very helpful and I found a lot of great information for my wedding this past September. we got married in Port Jefferson - if there's any help I can give you with vendors from that area just let me know!
Michele
welcome to you. Here are my suggestions but you do have some time to enjoy your engagement.
Photos:
I meet with a ton. VIP is great for a $2 budget. Mark Kauffman for an over $3K budget. I have detailed info on each vendor if you need more help. You can e-mail me (I'll put the address of the bottom of this)
Dresses- Bridal Suite in Centereach (it is not the same as in Patchogue. They are owned by different people)
Photo- Mark Kauffman
Video- Wild Rose (amazing and great people too)
Flowers- same as you, Burton's
If you want any other info just e-mail me at [email protected]
Have a wonderful time planning. Also check out www.ultimatewedding.com
That is a great site.
I am also getting married in December of next year. And although I agree that you have time, I am at that point where I can no longer sit back and relax (I've been engaged since April). I get nervous that all the vendors I may want will be booked on my wedding date! I really can't help with vendors yet, except I booked DJs Unlimited (and my hall and chapel of course). Next is photos for me, and this board was the biggest help! I will be checking out VIP first...I will also be checking out Burtons for flowers, due to the high recommendations from this board. I'll probably do that in February...
The best of luck to you! Being that you are in Dec., are you having a winter theme? I am, so if you want to exchange ideas, just let me know!! My email is: [email protected]
WELCOME!
Best of Luck to you and your fiance. While it`s true you have plenty of time, it`s also good that you`re getting a head start on your planning. Hopefully you will find it a little less stressful if you continue to steadily tackle things.
We were just married in September, and probably the best pieces of advice I have is to make sure you go over everything with everybody, and you make sure there is no misunderstandings as to what you expect or desire from anyone involved in your wedding. But, do know, that no matter how hard you plan, and how much you confirm, there will be things that do not go perfectly. But, chances are they will be small things that probably only you and your husband will know.
Do not drive yourself crazy during the wedding planning process. Make your best judgements, then let it be what it is, otherwise you will make yourself sick with second-guessing, and what is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life will instead be agonizing.
Try not to leave yourself with much to do in the final week before the wedding, other than the necessary, like running around to all the vendors for payments and last minute meetings.
On the day of your wedding, be at peace knowing that you are marrying the man you love and will be starting a whole new life together. I actually had to tell my family and bridesmaids (prior to leaving for church while getting done) to relax and not to cry, and I made it through without a tear, but rather big beaming smiles.
Most importantly, take time for each other. At your reception, stop and look around, and enjoy your guests having a good time as they celebrate in your happiness. Don`t just let the day go by in a big blur, because it will if you let it.
And don`t worry .. your day may seem far away, and there will be periods when it seems like there is nothing to do, or the time is dragging, but believe me, your day will be here before you know it!
