Hi Everyone! I am going to be a 2009 bride, however we have not booked our RH yet. We are having great difficulty making this desicion. I could use some advice. Either: -Villa Lombardis which has our ideal summer/sat evening date but we are not having a great experience with the banquet manager. OR -Giorgios which is more of our ideal location but we would have to do it in May b/c they already booked summer sat evenings in summer 2009. May is great but it means we'd have to postpone our honemoon till school ends in June.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks!

I think if you feel that Giorgio's is the place for you I would go for it and just postpone the honeymoon. You could still get a hotel room for the night of you wedding and maybe do a brunch or something with your family and any OOT that are still around.

I would go with Giorgio's. I went there and fell in love with it, but did not book with them because my wedding will only be around 60 people and we would get lost in that room. It is amazing there though.

I would go with the place you feel more comfortabke with. being a bride and the amoutn of money you are spending there you deff want good customer service. If you are having difficulties now before they have your money then most likely they arent going to get any better. just my opinion...you want to feel like a princes its your day and you dont need the extra stress of a rude BM. if the honeymoon is the only thing then it isnt that bad to wait. You can still relax and take a mini trip and then go on a bigger trip when school is out. I think it would be better anyway, you guys will be more relaxed and be able to enjoy yourselves...plus you will have something to look foward to.

Hmm..thats a hard one!!! You picked two really beautiful places!!! Did you love either one over the other?
I checked out Giorgios and Lombardi's on the Sound (same owners as Villa Lombardi's) and both are absolutely gorgeous!! Giorgios was too far for me and my guests though..but I've heard great things about both and both are suppose to have amazing food!!
I think I would lean a little more towards Giorgio's only because when I was there I felt like they would hoenstly accomadate EVERYTHING!!!! There's a hotel RIGHT there where you and FH can have a little overnite or twonite mini-moon and there's a lot of picture opportunities. You have their grounds and then you can use their private beach for pictures!!
Good luck! Let us know what you deceide!

lots of teachers postpone the honeymoon until school's over, and lots of schools will give you a couple days w/ special permission--it is your wedding, and all--so you can take the extended weekend to celebrate right away.

I agree with everyone else go with the place you feel the most comfortable with. I have never been to giogrios but I have heard it is nice. Same with Villas. GO WITH YOUR GUT!

Go with whichever you love more. Does it matter that much to you that you'd have to postpone your honeymoon?

I'd go with May but I am biased as a May bride!
Maybe you can have it at the end of May and then it will only be weeks aways for your honeymoon.
can you take one or two days off from work? (I have no idea how teachers days work) Then you can take a mini-moon! Like one night at a great hotel in the city or something. This way its not like-Monday-back to work like nothing happened!

Well you can do one of two things: you can get married at Giorgios in May and wait until June for your Honeymoon, which isn't so bad at all!!! Or you can get married on a Friday night at Villa Lombardis (smaller minimum)! Hope that helps!

You have to do what feels right for you! If you have to postpone your honeymoon it's not that big of a deal. Go with your gut so you don'thave doubts later!

Thanks everyone! We have appointments at both Giorgios and Villa Lombardis tomorrow so hopefully a decision will be made then!

I agree with everyone go with your gut and if the BM is giving you are hard time, remember this is just the begining of a very long process. If he is rude now, how will he be later JMO.

I personally love Georgios. I had a wedding there a few years back and loved it. She said they worked great with you as well!

I'm getting married at Villa Lombardi's so of course I'm a little biased! Who is the BM you spoke with? We've been dealing with Charles and he's been nothing but amazing so far. FM me if you want any help. Good luck with making your decision!

it depends on what is important to you. We originally were set on a specific date, so we had to sacrifice with respect to our hall. We booked 'late' (less than a year in advance) and sooo many places were booked.
However, we decided to push back the wedding and we are going to do things differently. We aren't going to lock ourselves into a specific date, and we are going to look at more halls. I really like Oheka, which we didn't visit the first time around.
Good luck deciding!

Maybe you can change BM or talk to a manager w/what ever situation u may be experiencing w/the BM. In these cases usually the manager will give u some free goodies. Good Luck

I have a question for you and all teacher brides... ever think about asking for vacation for your honeymoon? That's what I'm doing... but my principal really likes me so that might be why I'll be allowed.

Re: I'm new and could use some advice....
I looked at both places. The reason I chose Giorgio's over Villa Lombardis is because of the beach and the golf course. I also like that Giorgios is not on a main road and it is set back alittle. I would talk to your FH. If he really doesn't want to wait to take your honeymoon in June, then stick with Villa Lombardis, but if he can, I would do Giorgios. I am biased though
