I'm New! Need Reception Hall Help!

Original post by nicolepat

Hello everyone & congrats! I am new to this and just started wedding planning! I got engaged 2 months ago and finally am starting to look at some stuff and am totally overwhelmed. All I know is I don't want your typical LI reception hall. Does anyone have any suggestions & any quotes for mansions or unique venues on Long Island?

Thank you!!

I'm booked at the Bridgeview Yacht Club ... I'm obsessed! It's right on the water, only does one wedding at a time, and has this amazing tented ceiling that's like nothing I've ever seen before :)

HEY ! CONGRATS ON THE NEW ENGAGEMENT.

THATCHED COTTAGE- WE HAD MY SISTERS BRIDAL SHOWER THERE. RALPH WAS HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH AN NOT SO ACCOMMIDATING AT WAS NOT EASY TO WORK WITH. THE PARTY WAS NICE BUT NEVER AGAIN

BEST WISHES

This was the 1st bad review I've heard of Thatched Cottage. I'm sorry your sister had that experience! I haven't worked with Ralph. I'm not really sure who that even is. Is he the owner now b/c I believe some type of ownership change occurred, but I'm not totally sure. Maureen and Terrance have been great to work with so far!

Giorgio's!! My fiance and I felt the same way, not wanting a typical venue. I was sold on Delano Mansion of The Woodlands at Woodbury which I still love. Right before I booked a friend recommended Giorgio's. I went reluctantly, convinced my mind was made up. The offer with Giorgio's could not be beat and we loved that it was out east on a holiday weekend whee our guests could make a weekend of it. You could not go wrong with either.
How exciting!! Best of luck - have fun with the planning!!

Ralph is the owner, and was a total sweetheart when I met with him and Maureen. Thatched Cottage is amazing and accommodating to anything and everything my FH & I have asked. They even threw in a mini VH for us.

I 100% recommend Bourne Mansion- Lessings. I was married June 15, 2012 and had the time of my life. The next day our 200 guests were all calling us saying the same. Maitre d' Steve is great and so are Feggie (bridal attendant), and Ben and Jason (sales). Any questions, let me know.
