Im not a WM bride anymore ugh....

FH didn't like WM but I kept on him about it. Then FMIL said she had heard that the food was bad... I donno where she heard that but whatever. Today we went to sign the contract... but already paid my $500. FH had this look of horror and disapointment on his face and I knew it wasn't right. We walked out and we are not getting married there. We are going to find a place we both love.
We are seeing:
North Ritz Club
The Inn at New Hyde Park
And we both did love Jericho T...but they wanted 150 for the room we loved and we have 160 on our guest list so ehhhhh

My mom threw a fit that we have changed our minds and said that FH forced me into this choice (not true) and it shouldn't matter if he likes where we get married he's just the groom. Oh and she threw in what a waste of money my wedding dress will be since I have fat arms & stomach. So I cried most of the day but my wonderful FH stayed with me and im glad we are changing in the end. For once FMIL acutally consoled me and was so understanding. I hope we find a place soon is all.

FYI the Inn at NHP is very very expensive

we need to guarantee 150 so you will need to invite 190 to make sure you get that.

Trader!!!! no i'm just kidding. that's unfortunate that FH doesn't like the place but it is very important that the two of you absolutely love the place where you are going to be married. Better that this happened now than later and then u would feel bad about FH not loving the place. The search continues, but it's ok. You and FH will soon find a place you both agree on!

lol thanks! I want windows in the room (East Wind and Garden City hotel didn't). I want to have 130 people. I would like to spend no more then $120pp with tax and tip. We would like the location to be in western LI or Mid LI. FH loves high ceilings. and alot of open space. He doesn't like anythign that feels to vintage (like WM :() This is all soooo hard!

I'm sorry your Mom is being so mean. Do your best to ignore her...especially regarding the fat part! You are sooo far from fat!

Anyway, I am surprised about the WM comment. My sister just went to a wedding there and said the food was really good. But anyway, I hope you both find something you love! New Hyde Park Inn is amazing, but just so you know, I was quoted $170 pp on a Fri and $208 on a Sat...in NOV! It's pretty pricey. I ended up booking somewhere else. But if you have the budget, it's a really bautiful place.

Did you look at the Country Gardens at East Wind? It's separate from the Inn...and has windows. And I think your guest #s are probably perfect for the room.

I was going to guarantee 200...so i didnt even ask...but the room is HUGE...so i wouldnt be surprised if they wanted a high minimum. What annoys me is that when I called...they told me price range was low 100s...and then they quoted me these insane prices when i got there.

Just try not to stress. Remember that you are two yrs out...so there will be plenty of options...dont rush into a decision and just find the perfect place for both of you! Good luck : )

Jessica, I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going though. You and FH did the right thing it's important you both love the hall.

BTW the Winter Garden Pavilion room at Fox Hollow has very high ceilings and I think 130 would be OK for them...

We also liked Jericho Terrace and if the Milleridge Cottage doesn't work try Milleridge Carriage House.
