FH didn't like WM but I kept on him about it. Then FMIL said she had heard that the food was bad... I donno where she heard that but whatever. Today we went to sign the contract... but already paid my $500. FH had this look of horror and disapointment on his face and I knew it wasn't right. We walked out and we are not getting married there. We are going to find a place we both love. We are seeing: North Ritz Club The Inn at New Hyde Park And we both did love Jericho T...but they wanted 150 for the room we loved and we have 160 on our guest list so ehhhhh
My mom threw a fit that we have changed our minds and said that FH forced me into this choice (not true) and it shouldn't matter if he likes where we get married he's just the groom. Oh and she threw in what a waste of money my wedding dress will be since I have fat arms & stomach. So I cried most of the day but my wonderful FH stayed with me and im glad we are changing in the end. For once FMIL acutally consoled me and was so understanding. I hope we find a place soon is all.

lol thanks! I want windows in the room (East Wind and Garden City hotel didn't). I want to have 130 people. I would like to spend no more then $120pp with tax and tip. We would like the location to be in western LI or Mid LI. FH loves high ceilings. and alot of open space. He doesn't like anythign that feels to vintage (like WM :() This is all soooo hard!

Try Bridgeview YC in Island Park (long beach) I have a few pics in my album of the ballroom. It has really high ceilings and its beautiful, not vintage at all. My FH didn't like vintage either! LOL I'm not sure of your date but when we booked there was a package for $115.00 pp on a (sat night) that includes lots of stuff! Ask for Eric, he is awesome!!!!!!!!!

sorry you had to back out of WM... but i agree you and your FH should both love the place. My sister is getting married at the Inn at New Hyde Park but it is expensive, but really gorgeous... maybe try chateau la mer? it is on the water

Did you try negogiating with JT? If you really love it they're pretty good with that...
Not sure what places you've looked at already but try looking at Cresthollow Country Club and Chateau Briand- they were two of my favorites and both sound like your FH would like them based on your requirements.

However, my mother said the same thing as yours, this is my day and he's just the groom. Brides dream of this day forever. The groom should support you in whatever you decide. I partially agree, of course most girls want FH's opinion but on the other hand, I don't want anyone interfering with my dream.

I'm the same as you. I want FH to love everything...but I also told him...in the end it's my choice. Thankfully we have agreed on everything so far!

I'm so sorry to hear that you have to pick another hall.
I never heard anything bad about the food at WM. I was there last year for a wedding and I thought the food was very good.
Inn at New Hyde Park is expensive.. pretty high minimum too. There was no way I knew 150 people to be there... my entire invite list is at like 130. Can't afford anything over that anyway.
NRC I didn't go to but hear it's beautiful.. not as pricey as NHP.
Did you try.. Fox Hollow? Swan Club?
I'm booked at Chateau La Mer... very nice water front hall if that's what you are looking for.
My friend's FH was set on WM, but she didn't want to get married there because he was booked there with a girl he was engaged to before.
She took him to Fox Hollow and they both fell in love with it.

Also check out Crest Hollow they have the room downstairs that overlooks the pool.
JT was my second choice also. Very nice and the food is good.
