I'm now officially a SAHM & student

I was supposed to go back to my job this week but since November DH & I have been talking it over about me not going back. It didn't seem like an option before Luke was born but it's amazing how life takes a turn down another road. I'm going back to school to get my Nursing license. I've very excited, I'm enrolled for this semester. YAY!!

My job was great about it. My HR person said she couldn't blame me and she would have done the same if she could have when her child was born. Here's the best part: She's keeping me on payroll till the end of March!!!!!!!!!!! So I will get 5 more paychecks and my benefits till then!!!! How cool is that?! I still can't believe how nice they were about it. She said she wanted to do something nice for me since I worked for them a few years and saw the company through a few mergers and alot of changes with loyalty.

So I will going to school Tuesday & Thursday afternoons from 1-5:30 and Monday just from 1-2 o'clock. The rest of the time I get to spend with my boy (oh yes, and my books studying!)

I can't wait till the Spring when I can take him out for walks and rides in his jogging stroller and other fun stuff. If I went back to work I'd be away from him 12 hours a day-at least.

Did you get paid for disability or any maternity leave? Did you go back to work after that? Just wondering, since I think if I take the leave, I have to pay it back if I don't go back to work.

congrats! I'm in HR, and I've never heard of giving the $$ back after you've been paid for FMLA and then resign - my company doesn't do that, and many women don't return - I wouldn't want to either!

That's also very generous of them to keep you on payroll for that long afterwards!!

I have never heard of a company caring that much about employees.
