Go big Blue (this way the eagles are further from my Cowboys!!)

We are off to help set up a computer and fix another at a ladies house. We're selling her the one we don't use as well for way cheap.

She lost her hubby in 9/11 and was a client of my FH so we are always around when she needs us. I know it doesnt sound like a lot.. but we try to help were we can.

So someone keep track of the Giant game for me!!!!!

heh

I got the kids computer project. Jim took the upstairs project. After 7 hours and a lot of talking to a 6 year finding out which Lego games he wanted to keep and which simulators were “boring” I got the computer up. He’s sooooo cute. Asking why I put which wire were. I let him hold my flashlight and I explained each basic computer component for him. He’s father was an IT/Computer guru when he died on 9/11.

His boys are both pretty accustom to listening to computer talk so I treated him like I would anyone with basic computer knowledge, instead of treating him like a 6 year old. I hated when people used to do that to me.

I admit though.. it was tough. Being there and seeing all the memorials and stuff everywhere. She and I talked for awhile. She wanted talk about my experience that day … who am I to even come close to comparing my problems to hers??? She really wanted to know though. It’s the first time I’ve EVER told a 9/11 widow my story of 9/11.

No matter how many times we tried to change the subject, she always came back to her husband. It’s so sad. It was really hard. I left physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted.

But it all sorta pays off to see those kids goofing off playing flight simulator and lego creator. They are good kids and very well adjusted to what’s happened. It’s nice to see any kid happy even better when you know you’re a part that made them smile and even more so when you know they’ve been through so much.

We overhauled one computer, format and reinstalled office, other programs, updated applications and transferred old data. Installed a new computer and installed office on that computer, (Sony computer was sweet) and removed excess component such as unused scanners, printers, jimmy rigged speakers and two large useless servers that were remnants from her husband’s old job. It was like we were gutting out his office. We left the upstairs computer space with a junkyard of excess computer items. It was kind of sad, like seeing a sorry pile of used toys. Once loved and now forgotten.

Did I mention it was a tough day??

Now (meaning Tuesday) I’m off to do more Charity work. This time for The Sanctuary for Families. I have 40 hand made ornaments which each carries the name and hand written note of Christmas wishes that my organization members are going to try to make come true. I was up till 1am decorating little paper ornaments and making sure the children’s awkward tender “Dear Santa” letters were preserved for those people to take an ornament from the Tree tonight.
