'I'm OFFENDED my son was the bunny'.......

'I'm OFFENDED my son was the bunny'.......

Yes, those were the words that a second graders mom screamed at me after she SEARCHED for me and FOLLOWED me into the faculty lounge at school today.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? I had my first and second grades prepare mini-musicals for the parents to watch, so Wednesday they performed and all the parents watched, and they were so good and cute and everyone loved it. Forward to today. We had field day at school, so parents were everywhere. As I walked into the faculty room and sat down to enjoy the fact that I was alone for the first time all day, a second grade mom came in DEMANDING I tell her how the parts for the mini-musicals were chosen because she, and all of the other second grade parents, were offended that her son, the tallest kid in the class, was the bunny. W T F???????????? I was like, well, had I known your son was upset about being the bunny, I certainly would have taken care of it. And, still SCREAMING at me, tells me that he enjoyed the part, but how DARE I make him the bunny. God, people are such A-HOLES. I will NEVER EVER wonder again why my kids at school are so weird. I now know why. ARGH. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

Well, here were the options: a goat, a troll, a butterfly or a rabbit (not even a bunny, a rabbit). I guess it was a lose/lose situation. ALL of the parents in that school hate me. When my older kids had their big musical last Friday night, NOT ONE parent spoke to me afterwards. NOT ONE. They all gave me plenty of dirty looks, but no one said a damn thing to me. I hate the parents in this school. They are so strange. I think they have HUGE issues with the fact that I am so young. Granted I am 25, I look a lot younger, and people tend to not take me seriously. And what makes me mad is I am the first real music teacher they have had, and ALL of the teachers and administrators have told me this is the best year they had musically ever. I guess I will just take comfort in that. ARGH, FREAKING PARENTS!

Mo

Rachel, so parents have nothing else to do but to complain and NOTHING you ever do is good enough. I have had parents complain that I can't come to their house and TUTOR their child for free!!! Or I love the one that I was staying after school to help and working with on my lunch period and that wasn't enough!!! I should be staying with this child everyday after school, and as mom said, I could keep her child there as late as I wanted so she could do errands and clean the house. UM do I not get to have a life?

Rach don't sweat them and I told you 2 opening for music teachers in my district-- oh and did I tell you the nasty orchestra teacher maybe going buh bye!

Parents should have better things to be worried about. Like if there kid is doing there homework or not.

Uh...... is she serious?

OK, so lemme get this straight. You had a performance, everyone got to be included and the kid liked his role and she's upset about...... i dunno, i just don't know. stupid mom That is some damage right there.

This is a joke, right?
If it is not, I seriously have to wonder what is wrong with parents these days.
Perhaps that mother should be on some sort of medication....

I WISH it was a joke! Parents these days are just so freaking weird. Well, after the headache of all the other crap with these mini-musicals, we're going back to the boring old chorus concert next year where everyone is communistically equal. BLEH

Rachel - don't change it for the parents...remember the kids! I'm sure they LOVED it and it will be something they'll remember forever! Whe I was in grade school, our music teacher put on plays every year...and everyone got a part....and I STILL remember the parts I played in those plays.....do I remember the concerts we had for middle and high school? no.....

And just so you know...I was amazing as the little girl who asked the tour guide the question 'How tall is the statue?' in the Statue of Liberty play!!!!
I was also a bat in the Halloween play...I dont' think my parents complained about me playing a glorified rodent!!
