we are not getting married until the beginning of 2010...In my mind I thought that everything the needed to be done was just the Church and the RH...however, I have been hearing that a lot of things from people that the vendors are booking up...anddddd if you book now you can get the 2008 prices...Soooo I dont know what to do...I thought I had time, but now I am thinking that I dont. I spoke to fh about this and he said that he was not comfortable with booking vendors so far in advance because he thinks they are going to go out of business in 1 years...what do you guys think??

Re: Im really confused
If there are specific vendors you like, my advice would be to at least go see them. FH and I personally already booked photo/video because we fell in love with teh photographer, and now the 2009 girls are freaking out because that company isnt available on a good number of days. We locked in a lower price. Realistically, your wedding is before mine, we are under 2 years away. I am waiting on flowers and DJ, but we have the hall, music for the ceremony, dress, and photo/video.
There will always be vendors available, so if you are comfortable waiting, go ahead and wait. the prices will go up, not sure how much, but may not be that much. If you are set on a specific vendor, I would think about booking
Some of these vendors have been around for 10-30 years. There may be a slim chance they will go out, but you would have that whenever you book, look at the situation girls on the board are having with Queens Bridal Center. After the wedding hte place went bankrupt and they are fighting to get their pictures.

We booked the church and RH already. We're looking into the other vendors but arent booking anything yet.
The way I see it there are positives and negatives. As you mentioned you can get the 2008 price, and you're also guarenteed the vendor that you want. The closer you wait the date the more likely the vendors you want may be gone. On the other hand most vendors have more than enough photographers and djs to accomodate multiple weddings in one day. Im a little worried that a vendor may go out of buisness before the big day. IMO the longer a vendor is in buisess that more likley it is they WILL NOT go out of buisness, esp. those with a great reputation. We'll probably wait to the year before

If you are dead set on a vendor then I would book now...me I basically knew who I wanted to use for everything...I didnt book anything until 9 months prior to my wedding except for my hall and church. And I used popular vendors at the time. Keep in mind-the vendors on this site are not the only wedding vendors out there.

I think it also goes based on what you think will take you a while to make a decision on.
Now that I have my hall booked, in the next month I'm going to start looking into photo/video because I think that is going to be my next biggest decision and also a big budget item. This way I have time to shop around to different vendors and can also still feel comfortable with the one that I choose.
