I'm really sad........

Ok, let's see how I can explain this....When I was 12, I began to study flute with this girl who was just out of college. I continued to study with her until I was 20. We became very good friends, and she helped me in so many ways with my career and advice, etc. When I started my own private studio to teach flute, she would send any excess students to me so I could start up my business. She was just wonderful. Then, when I moved to MA, she took some of my students under her wing, while others went elsewhere. Well, I moved back, and took my students back (NOT the ones that go to her, I wanted them to stay with her because she's a much better teacher than I am). And since I've moved back from MA last July, she will not talk to me She won't return my calls and my former students who now study with her, will not talk to me I don't know what I did, and I feel really awful that my mentor and the one person I looked up to professionally, will not speak to me. This has been bothering me for months, and I don't know what it is that she won't talk to me for. I do not think I stepped on her toes professionally because I only have a small amount of students in comparison to her, and we teach in two different areas, so I can't imagine it was that. I just am so sad over this. I just needed to get that off my chest. Thanks.

I agree, I think you should write her a letter. It will make you feel better to get it off your chest, and hopefully she'll read it and want to get in touch with you to talk things out.

why dont you just write her a letter and explain your feelings to her. i think if there is something that you did to offend her she is at least owes you an explanation of what it was. maybe its just a simple misunderstanding and you can clear it up. i would write the letter or call for sure and maybe ask her to luch or something.

Exactly what I was thinking. Write a lot of what you wrote above to her in a letter.

Rach...could it just be that she hasn't gotten around to calling you? I know that's lame, but I'm guilty of it myself...haven't talked to someone in awhile and you know it's not going to be a 5 minute phone call and whenever you think to return the call there's just not enough time? That may totally not be the reason, but it's just a thought. (And I'm not sure how long it's been that you've been waiting for a return call)

I've called her like 5 times since July and still no call back. When I know she wouldn't be in her studio, her husband says she is, so I don't know. And it's just weird that my old students won't talk to me. None of them return my calls or emails or anything. It's just so weird. I've known her 13 years Maybe I will write a letter. I don't know if that just cheesey though and looking desperate. If she doesn't want to know me anymore, I guess I should just let it be

i would say write her a letter explaining how you feel and if she chooses not to respond, then you have to end the relationship.....
