Okay so I typed this post and then hit submit and then it tells me to sign in........ Uggggggggggh Okay so here's the short version FH is a steamfitter and they dont get a check if they take off a week. Its gets banked and they get I think 2 or 3 vacation checks a year. Okay fine SO FH and I were talking about the HM last night and he said he doesnt want to go for anymore than 5 days (our finaces are pretty tight but after the wedding we'll be okay). So If we go to Aruba, the day we get there and the day we leave I dont really count bc they are 'wasted' days to me. Anyone going on their HM for 5 days? I want to go for atleast 7 days. How can I coax him into going the 7 days!?!?!

my brother and his wife went for a short time and they loved it. the left monday early morning.. red eye flight and they came back friday late ngiht. so they had a total of 4 nights. they went to st. lucia and they enjoyed it!

I guess Im so into going for a long time because I want to make sure that I get nice and tan!! I'll admit it FH says that if we dont stay for long he's doing me a favor....so that i dont get that much sun burn

Does he only want to take off 5 days? If that is the case then you can go from Saturday to Saturday and only have to use 5 working days but get a 7 day honeymoon.

Im only going for a week people are telling me to go for 2 but I don't like long vacations. I get spoiled and it is hard for me to get back in the groove of things when I get back so If I stay away longer it will take me longer to get things back in order when I come back. And I have also learned the longer you stay away the more money you spend.

I am in the same boat b/c FH is a carpenter and he only wants to talk off 5 days of work as any days off are unpaid because the vacation check gets banked each quarter. The poster ^^^^^ suggested doing what we're doing. We're leaving early Sunday - the morning after the wedding - and staying through to the next Sunday but taking an early flight out. He should be home and in bed by 9pm and ready to get up and go Monday at 5 a.m. ( I cannot even imagine but to each their own!!)
The total number of nights are 7 and if you get a direct flight to Aruba it should not be too bad on the day you arrive and not a total waste. Try booking your trip that way and it should all work out.

Heres why we want to leave on a Monday.......... (Call me Miss Cheeeep-o) The Limo place said they can give the Limo free for the HM as long as its not on a weekend. Keep in mind that we're paying almost next to nothing thanks to my Dad's wheeling and dealing..... Im thinking MAYBE I'll make this one sacrafice and go for the 5 days

oh,,,this is tough. My FH and I are going to aruba too! We are going for a short time too but figured that its not like we are going on a cruise to many places....just one place. TOo much time and you may get bored........plus its such a short flight.....

If money is tight why dont you go somewhere here in the states. Money will be tight with us so we are spending the week in Marco Island Florida. If you go through a travel agent to you get a free night stay at one of the hotels. Maybe an idea?

We are leaving Monday for our HM and coming back Sunday night.. wish we couls hvae stayed longer but I work for Nazi's and they won't give me the extra time off

Don't feel bad please...At least you'll be there for 5 days..Im not even going to be able to go on a honeymoon. We're not going to be able to afford it since we are paying for everything! We said a few months after we're going to plan it for. I just dont feel like its gonna be the same though

It's not the quantity of time it's the quality of time. As long as you are together is all that counts. And you can always go away again for a few days.

Your wedding is on a Friday so you can leave on Saturday and return the following week on a Sunday. That gives you 7 days not including the two travel days. You could leave early on Saturday and return late on Sunday so it will feel like a full 9 days. This way your FH only takes off Mon-Friday

Oh, my friend went to Aruba for 5 days...She had such a great time and did so many things. There is a lot to do in a day and the weather is perfect!
