I'm so so upset .........

My father died 20 years ago when I was 18 and I have always been very close to my godfather. I always thought he would walk me down the aisle. When I asked him he cried and said he would be honored! Well I just got off the phone with him and he was crying he was just diagnosed with Thyroid cancer and needs surgery and chemo. He will not be able to give me away. My heart is broken.

Oh sweetie ... I am so sorry to hear this. Is it written in stone he won't be able to do it? Do they know for sure he will need chemo? I ask because I work at a hospital and I worked with an endocrine service ... I know many types of thyroid cancer are treated with surgery only, and some with a radioactive iodine treatment in addition to that, but that doesn't knock you out the way chemo does.

He has other health issues . Last year he had a mini stroke and passed out on the floor and wasn't found till the next day by his daughter. His leg was twisted into a position that cut of his circulation. He has been in PT just trying to learn how to walk again.
He promised to be there for me but he is afraid he will be to weak to walk and doesn't want to ruin my day. I just want him to be ok period!

if you cannot find someone to replace him..you hold your head up high as you walk down the aisle knowng that both your father and your godfather will be with you

Oh that is so sad. my heart goes out to both of you. . are you having a videographer there. if so is there a way to have a video of him there either live feed or a pre-recorded something to feel like he is part of giving you away? I once was at a wedding where the brides dad could not be there and they set up a feed for him to give her his blessing. . it was sad but sweet. . of course that is NOTHING like the real thing I know but a thought. .
