My father died 20 years ago when I was 18 and I have always been very close to my godfather. I always thought he would walk me down the aisle. When I asked him he cried and said he would be honored! Well I just got off the phone with him and he was crying he was just diagnosed with Thyroid cancer and needs surgery and chemo. He will not be able to give me away. My heart is broken.

I know you are upset (I would be too) but you love your godfdather and thank god this is thyroid cancer and not a worse form. My little sister is a thyroid cancer survivor and I thank god every day that she is with us. I will pray for your godfather. Maybe he will be ok to walk you down, if not someone will step in for him - it is most important that he will be around for many more years of your life.

Awwww! I'm sooo sorry!

I have a similar situation... My father died 11 months ago... And my Grandfather walked me down the aisle. My Grandfather has cancer.... hes gone for Chemo and radiation therapy. I know seeing me get married is something he fought for.... I love him so much for that... and it is one of the true joys of my life that he walked me down.
Try to stay positive.... maybe your godfather will be able to walk you down the aisle
