IM SOOO PROUD OF MY COUSIN !
She lives in Italy, on the countryside, in this little town that my mom came from. A population of 3,000. Where they have one post office, and a few little grocery stores, no supermarkets. I have not EVER known of any of my friends there having jobs (maybe 5 of the gazillion people I know there!) and even those with jobs, they are very simple jobs, working in a factory, hairdressers, dad's shoe store, etc..
They are pretty much all (in our age group) content to stay home until they marry... Couldnt FATHOM the thought of work and school in one day... couldnt FATHOM the thought of a mom doing ANY other job than being a MOM. (which of course is the toughest job on earth, as Oprah says!) They are in AWE of the money that we can make here in the US and somewhat envious of the life that we live... (there are MANY benefits to living THEIR layed back lifestyle, and they dont see it sometimes)..
ANYWAY to get to my point, my cousin was always kind of the 'black sheep' in town (in a good way). She was always studying when everyone else was 'in piazza' (Strolling the town), she was always asking us for new English words when the other kids were busy playing...
She is now about 24, and just graduated Law school there !!!
I AM SOOOOO PROUD OF HER !!!!!!!!!!!
I hope alot of them see her as a role model and continue school past high school, and go to their full potential !!
Thanks for listening !
Another one of my cousins, bookworm of all bookworms, is in Med School there...
