with the 'policy' that we cannot speak negatively about vendors. I, personally, come here to hear the TRUTH about who I should/shouldn't use - not just the positive experiences. I'm not trying to cause 'drama', but the constant deletions of TRUTHFUL posts about vendors is making me very leery of continuing to come here for help. It is the brides who make this site, NOT the vendors! What is going on is simply NOT right! And, the NERVE of the vendors to call brides on their feedback is disgusting!
We shouldn't be able to post anything about vendors if negative feedback is banned. Otherwise - we really are just giving vendors more advertising
wonder if this will be deleted too. Let's keep a count.

Yeah, doesn't make sense though, b/c why would someone just FM people to randomly ask about vendors and if they had negative experiences? Also, even when people say 'FM me if you wanted to use so and so', that post is ALSO deleted! That's what posting is for. As I said, I just don't agree. This is a site to help brides, and negative feedback is part of that help.

I don't know why they delete them. Maybe it has to do with legal matters? I know you can be sued over what you write on chat boards. A friend of mine is in the midst of a very expensive lawsuit over something nagative he said about a big company on a financial chat board.

Re: I'm sorry, but I don't agree
wow, i cant believe vendors have called! i agree that a large benefit of this site is the honest feedback we can get from eachother, but i think FM is the way to go with any negative opinions. if i booked a vendor, layed down a chunk of money and than saw them slammed on here I would be a devasted nervous wreck. I would want to be prepared for any problems a LIW member had with a vendor I was planning on booking, but once I spent my time and $ and felt settled I dont know if I could handle the upset.
Did that all make sense?

HMMM I didn't think of the problem with them deleteing a post asking for FM's about a negative experiences with a vendor. They have to come up with a better solution.
FMs are useful when someone is asking about a service or vendor...then someone with negative experience can FM a response

I agree you should not have to FM if you want to say something. the boards are supposed to be for the brides and we should be able to speak freely. Some might have had good exeriences, some bad. Some like vendors, others they are not for them. I think we should be able to hear what others say and then make a decision for ourselves.

Re: I'm sorry, but I don't agree
this happened with my reception hall. there were negative posts about a high-up employee there who i have had no problems with (so far)... I FMed the LIWer who posted it, and she explained in more detail.
yes i think it is wrong for our honest posts to be pulled, but at the same time there could be lurking competitive vendors posting falsifications about other vendors... we see the reverse sometimes with vendors posing as brides and praising themselves.
also, there has got to be some money involved between LIW and the vendors.. let's get real, its all bizness here...
FM is the way to go!!

i agree with you, except that certain people don't know where to draw the line and feelings are hurt, unfortunately. there has to be some sort of a policy to make sure that people don't get nasty...but i don't really agree with deleting the posts entirely...perhaps FM the poster and ask her (or him) to edit their post.... just a thought.

I also come to this site to get info on vendors. If someone has something negative to say than I want to hear why. I don't mean slandor or ripping a vendor apart just letting us know whats up. There is no need to trash anyone but to give an opion is fine. I also think that it is completly wrong of a vendor to be posting on the BHB boards and to call someones home and harass them! That is just totally bad business IMO.

Re: I'm sorry, but I don't agree
their is a difference between negative and slander.
i had a bad experience with a vendor who in fact is a member of these boards and I did not say their name. I simply said i went to this type of company and i didnt like how things went. I stated what I saw and how i felt and if anyone was interested to FM me. That thread was not pulled
But SOME girls come on and say I saw ABC company and I spoke with John Doe and he was horrible. His company Sucks and they should not be in business. Dont see them.
That is a type of slander and it will be removed.
So I think if you come on here and blast someone to pieces it will get removed. But if you are simply saying i had a bad experience with a florist, limo company. make up, favors, etc... and what they did that upset you that should be fine.
Best thing to do: when in doubt DO NOT say their name and tell girls to FM you

I think we are
Honestly this is a site sponsored by vendors - and LIWeddings doesn't want to get sued for letting people post negative things about vendors that 'may or may not' be true - but they are good enough to allow us to FM our experiences which is a good thing b/c you can still get the same information and NOT be harrassed for sharing it privately.

Re: I'm sorry, but I don't agree
I agree, This site is sponsored by vendors, so it makes sense that we cannot slander them. As was said before there certainly is a difference between explaining that you had a not so good experience with someone, and getting into specifics about people- that is wrong. Obviously when we hear from a fellow bride we believe what she is saying because she is stating her feelings. We do not however know the vendors side of the situation. I say this because I have read very hurtful comments to certain businesses when I know for certain that IMPORTANT FACTS WERE LEFT OUT which would explain the vendors reactions. Telling people not to go to a vendor is just not fair and again it is hurtful to those who have already booked/paid for and were comfortable with these vendors. Our wedding day is one of the most important day of our lives and we don't want the added stree of worrying if our vendors are going to ruin our wedding. I think it is much more important that you go straight to the vendor and discuss the situation rather than trying to turn others against them. Sorry this was so long but it was bothering me. Thanks for listening.

Everyone has a right to there opinion. part of of the problems is you can't say well 'my photographer needs mental help medicatiion, he needs. he must be very ill' and things such as that.

Re: I'm sorry, but I don't agree
Just to add my 2 cents....
This is a great board that allows you to talk about your negative and positive experiences. If it were not for te vendors advertising, we would ahve to pay....you do not have to like very person you come into contact with...but whatever you do, DO NOT tell people Not to use XYZ Company...that is not fair and is not tolerated. Its fine for you to make comments about bad experiences, just don;t go overboard telling people not to use them...etc..etc....THAT is where the MAJOR problems occur...ALso, name droppin may not be the way to go publicly....but thats where FM comes into play!!@!

Re: I'm sorry, but I don't agree
it's not fair to people who are paying so much $ and putting so much time and energy into planning a wedding.... I mean, sure, if there is a MAJOR problem - maybe you could say 'FM me if your reception hall is Blank Blank'.
But to say negative things is hurtful. I remember once someone said about the Coral House (where my reception is) that there is awful food and garbage floating in the lake - and there is no such thing! Well I guess food is your own taste, but my point is - there's no need for it.
