i'm starting to think you girls don't like me...

I need some help girls and i've posted before, but was unsuccessful in getting advice. I need to send out accommodation cards for my guests since i already sent my save the dates months ago (wedding is columbus day weekend) and i couldn't book hotels until march. So i'm not quite sure what to type up. This is what i have so far....

As you can see.... it's just awful!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea how to word things or what i should be included. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME???

um, when are your invites going out?? this should've gone out with those...and usually the hotels/motels give you cards with this info on them. i used to never get responses either...don't let it get you down

my wedding isn't until october and i can't wait that long to send these. Montauk motels book up months in advance. If i wait until august to send this... no one will be able to come. And no the motels don't give out cards. Montauk is a little different than most places. We don't have hotels, we have motels. It's not the typical setup.

Maybe make up a little wedding update brochure or newsletter for your guests, letting them know how things are going, list all the motels and info and info about them booking up early. Maybe if you could also include some brochures for things they could do out there if they do stay with the hotels requiring a 2 or 3 night minimum, so they get an idea of things they may actually want to come out early for.

Date twin, I like you :) and I think I agree with Boop that including activity info with this notecard is the way to go, so people don't get all 'what am i going to do for 3 days???'

I'm not that crafty!!!!!! I would have no idea where to start to make a newsletter. Plus, and this is going to sound bad... but i really don't want to do that much extra work. I have enough on my plate at the moment.
-All of you girls on here give like 120% and go way and beyond what most do for their weddings. I've never even heard or been to a wedding in which there were certain items you girls do. I guess you can say that i'm all about simple.

Yes, ours went out last month... his family's all from maryland so they needed to go out that early... i pretty much said the same thing that you said, to book early and here's the hotel info... i dont have them saved on this computer, else i'd tell you exactly what they said...my hotel didnt have a minimum night stay, so i didnt include local info yet... will put that stuff together for OOT bags

oh, you might want to let them know that they have ot mention your names when they call the place so that they get the discounted rate

How about in a cute little note card say something like....

'Come and celebrate our wedding weekend with us!! See the sites, enjoy the Fall weather rest and relax....'

Then put down all the hotel/motel info.

I don't think you have to list 'activities' cuz really... what can you say?

If only i got discounted rates! There is no such thing out in Montauk!

ok, here are my suggestions...I made some changes

1- you need to put addresses and phone numbers as well as web addresses.

2- you don't need to put a whole sentence, just write the price and the night minimum.

3-at the end you should put area attractions, maybe a calendar of the events going on that weekend if any, and inexpensive to moderately priced restaurants.

4-I rearranged a little below...

Aren't you getting married in October? Then why are you requiring a reservation before May 10? Your guests will be confused when you talk about the summer months.

These should have gone out with the STDs and a stipulation put that reservations cannot be made until a certain date. However, if you already sent them out and reservations really do need to be made ASAP, then send them out newsletter-style with the other attractions on it as well.

I couldn't make any motel reservations months ago because most do not open up again until march and won't have their new prices before then. Therefore, my std's went out and i just found out motel info. I can't wait until i send out my invites in august because everywhere will be booked by then and i'm not exaggerating.

I'm getting married the same day as you and had no idea it was a holiday weekend, lol. I better get moving on checking out hotels, lol.

Yeah we had no idea either until after we booked the date. Now i wish we would have chosen a different date!

I'm sorry I think you should send it out with the invite with a card from the hotel thats giving you the best discounted rate.

We are supposed to send out accomodation cards?!? I thought I was bad cause I didn't do STD's!! I have just been telling everyone to book now and a bunch of people have, but I know I don't have as many guests as you. I think I am just going to send my invites out a little early. Are you sending it to everyone or just OOT guests? If it's just OOT maybe try to find some visitor guides to Montauk that you can include along with your note about the hotels. HTH!!

It is very very easy to make a wedding newsletter, and it doesn't have to be extravagant or anything like that. Using either Microsoft Word, or Word Perfect, change the paper orientation to 'landscape' then create two columns. IN the second column make a heading like 'Wedding Accommodation Information'
Underneath that put all the hotel information (another bride on this thread showed it all nicely lined up). Then print it out. Then do the same thing - landscape and two columns. Again on the second column (or the one on the right) type 'Wedding Newsletter', under that type your name & FH's name, under that type the date of the wedding. Then take the two pieces of paper to work and run them through the copy machine to put them on one piece of paper and fold in half - viola! a wedding newsletter. Staples sells envelopes that they will then fit into.

Nope not at all. This past year the weather in the beginning of october was in the 60's. Lets hope its like that again this year.
