I'm stressing over BM Dresses

I'm stressing over BM Dresses

This past saturday we went looking for BM dresses. I knew since I had a small bridal party that everyone should be invited to go. I only have my sister, my cousin and my FH's sister. I really didn't think it would be so overwhelming. Between all the different styles of dresses, body types and personalities it was just a total bomb. Now I don't know how to do it. I don't know how to pick out a dress that will flatter them all, and how to get them all together without having to worry about stress levels. Any suggestions??

You can pick a color, fabric, and designer, then let them decide on a dress themselves from that line. Or, many designers have separates, you can have them all get the same skirt and different tops.

I have the same problem, many diff body types and plan on doing one of the above.

Good luck!

I have 8 girls- and I just had them get all different dresses in the same color. I want them to feel comfortable and feel like the dress flatters them.

Here's the way I did:

All the BM met at the Bridal shop 30 minutes before me. In that 30 minutes they were allowed to chose any dress they liked. I came (30 min later so I wouldnt be able to have any input) and made all of them try on the dress I liked most out of their selections. It happened to work out great. My favorite dress was 'A Line' which happens to be flattering for all body types. It looked fantastic on my sis (MOH) who had just had a baby 2 months before as well as my best fried (BM) who is about ten pounds soaking wet!

Another option is to select a 2 piece dress and select the color. Then allow them to mismatch the bottoms to whichever tops they perfer.

Here's how I'm doing it:
'Ladies, there are 15 style's available for you from David's bridal. We have to order the dresses from the same store so that the fabric colors match identically.' I provide them with the style #'s (they all have to be in the same fabric- ie. satin), the color, and the number of the David's bridal we're going to order them through. All they ahve to do is get their measurements into davids bridal and viola! Everyone gets a dress they feel comfortable in and everyone's happy

Re: I'm stressing over BM Dresses

I am having 5 attendants and I told them to choose a formal (floor length) black dress. Honestly, I didnt want the stress of shopping for them and I figured that all of my bridesmaids would all choose gorgeous dresses that would look great on them. One of my bridesmaids, who lives in Maryland, just got her dress and emailed me a photo of her in it. She looks great and I didnt have to do a thing!

If this is not what you'd like to do, then I suggest doing something like what some of the other brides are doing - find a manufacturer and decide on a color and fabric - then let them choose.

Dont let people get to you. There is no way that all girls will like the dresses you like or vice versa. Sucks, but very true.

this is what we did - i have 6 girls - i had three girls representing all the body types - the three grils went through the racks and picked out everything they liked

then each girl picked a dress to try on - they either didn't like it and it was put in the no pile or they liked it and put in the pile for another girl to try the dress on - the second girl would either like it or not like it and put in no pile - if she liked the third girl tried it on - we ended on three dreses that looked good on all and then they decided on these - i never thought would all like one but they did

I was a Bridezilla. Lol. I knew what dress I wanted....made them all go to the salon to try them on. Everyone was ok with it, luckily...except for the strapless thing....then I found out that the dress comes with removable straps they can attach for the reception. They accepted it. I am sure if they REALLY hated the dress I picked, I would have picked a diff. one. Maybe.

I have 8 BMs (including a MOH) who range from a size 0 to a size 18 and from 19 to 40 years old. It was hell trying to find a dress that I liked that would flatter them all - not be too young for the 40 year old but not too matronly for the 19 year old, blahblahblah. What I did was not so much ask what they liked but more what they absolutely hated in dresses. We ruled out strapless, lines under the boobs, slinky material and tea length. Based on that, I went out and found what I think was the perfect dress for my situation. It is gorgeous and it looks good on everyone.

Thanks for listening ladies!! I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and just pick one out for them and say deal with it . I was thinking about doing the same designer and color thing, but since I only have 3 girls, I was a little leary also I saw that done once before where it just looked bad. I'm taking my MOH out this weekend to look and keeping my fingers crossed I can find something and then take them back to look at it. And if they agree, it will be ordered! It's just something you don't want to stress over when you have so many other things to worry about!
