the thing with the african/safari theme is that i think its gonna be super hard to theme everything. and what do i do about favors? every company i talk to are stuck when i tell them what my theme is. im getting married at the riviera so both themes go well with it cause of the dark brown/wood colors in the hall. eep which do you like better?? also how would you diy most of the african theme? i need suggestions!! ahhh

I like both a lot. I think I like the African safari theme more though. With the riviera, some of those lighting effects can be gorgeous! What color BM dresses would you have?

The African Safari theme is very original! You could name your tables after animals you would see on a safari. I am not sure what kinds of flowers there are in Africa, but I'm sure you could research that!
I love the blue and brown too.

Re: im stuck
we were thinking of naming tables after different countries in africa, but the animal thing could work too!! and i didnt think about donating the money. thats a good idea. and i was thinking of having just brown dresses for the BM but not sure what color flowers. maybe some lillies but im not sure :-/ and also if i could, i was gonna alternate colors for the BM dresses but I don't know what other color would look good in that theme, what do you guys think? you guys are awesome!!

Definitely like the african/safari theme over the brown/teal theme.
I'm sure you can find brown invites, or invites tied closed with raffia.
For BM dress colors you could go with brown, green, and/or gold.
For favors you could do a donation to any number of organizations that either send missionaries to Africa, send medicine to Africa, or even a Stop Apartheid organization. If you want something more tangible, I'm sure you could find little knicknacks in animal shapes (maybe do some research on what animals mate for life?).
For flowers you can do something tropical - either birds of paradise, or orchids, even some lilies are very tropical looking.

I want to point out that if you go for alternating dresses for your BM, you might not get alternating on your wedding day. 2 of my BMs dropped out within weeks of the wedding. And nearly every wedding wedding I've been a part of, something has happened to a BM or GM. At my brother's wedding, a BM dropped out with 2 days to go because her best friend was in a horrible car crash.
You can't predict the future and I think you'll be putting your eggs in one basket going for alternating. You can always put your MOH in another color.
Now that I look back on the pics, I like the brown tie and vest much better than the brown suit.

I also love all the ideas suggested by October Bliss! Brown, green, and gold would look lovely!!
