but, how do you know exactly what you need for your baby, and how do you find out which product is better than the other? Does anyone have websites they prefer over others? DH and I haven't started with this yet, but I thought I should start looking into it. Thanks!

epinions.com is great for reviews.

babiesrus.com has great reviews also.

Also read Consumer reports, ask around, and go to the stores to check out the items 'in person'

Ditto to everything Anna said.

I also found Baby Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields to be very helpful.

Baby Bargains is good, I found alot of helpful info there when I was completely clueless but definitely read other reviews. Their book ultimately comes down to the opinion of 2 people on what is 'the best'. Plus they must get incentives from the baby products companies to tout their products. JMO.

I found the consumer comments on BRU's website enormously helpful. BTDT parents are the best sources, they tell it like it is.

baby bargains is a grat book- sorry elizbeth but I dont believe they get any paybacks from the companies....I also read their bridal bargains book and that saved our sanity and $$ too!

epinions- good source
BRU- ck consumer ratings

ALSO- ask recent mommies- we know what we have had to return to the stores cuz it was useless!
