I'm the worst bride

I have been engaged since May 1st and I am planning a July 29, 2005 wedding. I have no idea what I should be doing next. I have the church, the hall, and photographer/video. Should I be dress shopping if I have NO idea what I am looing for yet? Do you get the girls dresses first? WHat should I be doing at this point? Help!!!!!!!!! I am completely clueless and feel like the worst bride.

Hi! Welcome to the boards! Everyone is amazingly helpful here.

I don't know if I'm doing things in the 'right order', but, then again, I don't think there is a 'right order'. Everything will fall into place. Relax and have fun with this.

You've got the church and the hall -- those are the important things. Next you should probably focus on dress shopping, then move on to the DJ/band thing.

A good place to start dress shopping is whereever you can try on a LOT of dresses in one day. For the purposes if trying things on and just getting a feel for what does or doesn't look good; David's Bridal and Commack Wedding Center are great places to start. They both have a lot of dresses in a lot of sizes, styles, prices, etc.

They say that the bride's gown can set the tone for the entire wedding; while I'm not sure if that's true, dress shopping for me was a blast and has been my favorite part so far.

Hi! I'm getting married the day after you and I haven't started looking at dresses yet. I agree that the brides dress should be picked out first because the BMs dresses should compliment the style of it. I have a pretty good idea of what style of dress I want (strapless A-line, no fancy beading), so for me it's been easy to narrow down the BM dress from looking at magazines. I think I'm going to start shopping in August for my dress and once that's taken care of, I'll do the BM dresses.

I would say to start looking for a DJ/band next because they book fast, or so I have heard. After that just start trying on dresses for yourself, you will start to see the style you like most and go from there.

I agree with DiamondGrlie. Go get the DJ/Band and start looking for florists and limo companies after that.

I'm getting married the same day as you

I've booked the church, hall, photographer/videographer, and DJ. I ordered my dress in March, but I'm way ahead on that so don't worry. You're doing fine! I think the next thing you should work on is the DJ, then your dress, then flowers, BM dresses, etc. Welcome and good luck!!!

Thank you so much!! You girls helped me out a lot. I think I'm going to look for music and my dress. Do you have to make appointments at most dress places? I am so new to this and have no idea what I want yet.
