I feel like the puppymill industry won't be shut down ever without gov't intervention, so why not save at least ONE dog.

It sure is different over there. I think you should give it a shot and if you dont like it just stop posting.
Just know the 'rules', dont cause drama, dont talk about breastfeeding, dont buy a puppy in a store, etc.. or your have raging mom2be's after you!!

Aw, one of my dogs we got from an animal rescue that took him out of a petstore, b/c no one bought him! He was 9 months old! No one knows what Norwegian Elkhounds are, so he just sat there Poor doggies.

The drama over there happens in spurts just like it does over here.

I like it over there because people are talking about other things besides weddings and all things wedding related. Plus there are tons of other boards to paruse. I'm a fan

here is my theory

I think if you dont understand the different dynamic and relationships there then it can seem like there is more drama

BUT it is just like here. . .like if Kim and I got into a heated debate about the cutest breed of puppy in the world. . .an outside observer might think we are being vicious BUT if you are a 2008 regular. . .you know that tomorrow, we will go back to being just fine and its no big deal.

Heather!!! Don't make me get batty like I did on the BF thread. If you want to save an animal, go to your local shelter.

for the record, I've been on LIF for awhile, but only really on the pregnancy board....other than that, we don't own a home, as much as I love my cat i get bored talking about pets, and teh NFR board, it's ok sometimes, depends on the topic, and it does get catty there, but it gets catty as hell here too. When you look at the big picture, it's really the same as it is here.

I agree with Kim when she says DO NOT POST THIS QUESTION OVER THERE.

Esp. b/c the answer is quite simple... you buy you continue the fund the puppy mills.

See Heather, I think LIF is right up your ally... I think you could fit in over there esp. bc you can be snarky without taking it too seriously... AND you have the ability to lighten up a thread or take it in a whole new direction with one simple (but brilliant) picture of a horse!

i'll read there occasionally (usually NFR or Relationship boards, although I had been keeping up with DaniRella's updates too) but I rarely post.

I just got a whole bunch of friend requests while I was away, but I dont really get the purpose of them -- does it do anything special?

I feel like it's an older crowd over there and I'm already on the younger side over here (24)

that is what i thought as well??I would rather take care of a puppy that was from a pet store that needed the care, love and help (health wise) than have it continuing to sit in the store

Not starting drama but the point is that if you buy the puppy YES you are saving THAT puppy BUT you are also putting money in the pockets of the puppy mill OWNERS so they can torture let's say 30 MORE puppies.

Brutus is from a petstore, I am a hypocrite but just explaining WHY people are against 'saving' a puppy from a petstore.

it is like saying those hundreds of other puppies arent important bc they arent right in front of you licking you face.

my theory on LIF...

for every 100 LIW members, there are 1000 LIF members... because LIW is geared specifically towards brides... LIF is geared towards ANYONE.

so... a lot more b*tch per square footage...

while it may SEEM like a battle field, its really a case of a LOT more people and more probability of someone having a different opinion & beliefs than yours.

It's harmless... as long as you understand that we're not all the same.

I like LIF a lot b/c there is an array of topics to discuss.

I'm still on LIW (also) because of the friendships I've made and the fact that a lot of them aren't yet on LIF, so I'd still like to chit chat.

ahahha it's true though, right? I'm not calling the MEMBERS b*tches... but if you think about it... for every vent on here, there are 338273827 over there... and input the fact that there are SO MANY different types of people involved, it seems like we're ALWAYS fighting over there... but in actuality, we aren't

also... it's not so scary as it seems, once you get to know people and the site's dynamics.

The breastfeeding post. There was a post over there (kind of a spinoff to the one here) about how BFing mothers felt about BFing in public. Tons of drama which is fine, but also a lot of insults (not fine IMO)...
