My mom is really on top of me to start looking for a wedding gown.~~~~~~ What do you wear to try on dresses? I'm so common-sense stupid sometimes with these things lol.
Help!

Re: Important Question
Honestly, I just went dressed normal, like everyday. The woman at the salon gave me a strapless bra to use while trying dresses on.

Re: Important Question
When you try on your gown they give you all the accessories you need like the bottom part to make the dress puffy and the bra.

Re: Important Question
Same for me, I went as normal and they provided me with what I needed to try the dresses on. Goodluck!

Re: Important Question
I know this sounds really ridiculous and you're probably saying 'just get over it,' lol but I am sooo shy when it comes to my body.
I don't want strange women coming into the dressing room with me..
In high school i used to wear my gym clothes under my regular clothes.......& in high school I was a size 5- so it's not a weight thing...I am just personal when it comes to that.
So if they are going to insist on putting the dress on me, I want to be prepared at least lol

Re: Important Question
I went dressed in everyday clothes nothing special, I did wear a strapless bra. The girl that helped me try gowns on was very careful not to expose me in any way and I was not uncomfortable at all.

Re: Important Question
I went in reg clothing. The bridal salon I went to I was in the room by myself. I would just call her over when I was dressed to lace up the back. It was a real relief because I didnt want a stranger seeing me unclothed. hell I don't even wear a bathing suit around strangers nevermind my unmentionable
ETA: I went to Paradise Bridal in Patchouge.

I'm sort of shy so I went in my normal clothes but wore boy-shorts and brought along my strapless bra just in case I needed.

Re: Important Question
I am very self-conscious but when it came time to try on gowns, I really didn't feel that way. The women at Kleinfelds and RK Bridal were great!!

I agree with Tricia. By the time they put the strapless bra and the slip on you as well, it's kind of like you are dressed already.

Wear anything you want. Most places will have cotrsets/strapless bras for you to try on/purchase

I dont think i'd want some strange lady helping me either. my best friend and MOH was the one who went in the dressing room with me and helped put the dress on.
I would wear your own strapless bra, I didn't once and borrowed one and was really grossed out by it, it was the oldest thing i think i have ever seen.

Re: Important Question
Right....I am bringing my mom..she can help me put on the dresses..if the lady doesn't like it i'll go somewhere else.
When I bought my sweet 16 dress, i tried it on with the store's bra.........trust me never again lol.

Yea. I would go dressed normal. Usually, the gown store usually provides you with this kinda stuff. I went to davids bridal in Yonkers, and the lady lent me a corset (dont know if thats the way you spell it) and the slip..and the shoes hehe

Re: Important Question
I brought a strapless bra with me (or you can wear it if you feel like you would rather not have to be totally naked in the dressing room. They will give you a slip to try it on with (I had to ask a few places). I went into the room and put the bra and slip on...you are pretty much covered by then. They come in and help you get the dress on and some even just waited until I called them in to help lace up the backs. Have fun!!!!!

Re: Important Question
hahaha...This is a cute question.....
I wore a freaking thong like i was some chicky going to the bar......I told the dress lady, 'hey i have some sexy thongs on....i'm sorry, I hope you don't mind -- she goes its okay, i see them al the time' So I would say wear some boy shorts or something & a strapless bra for undergarments....Wear jeans and a shirt nothing crazy!!!
Good Luck!

Re: Important Question
My mom went with me to help me but honestly, once I had the slip on it was so huge that it was like I had a dress on already. I was standing in the middle of the store with the lady helping put my slip on actually underneath my dress. Too funny!
