I dressed everyday too. If you don't have a strapless bra, then they will give you one to use when you try on. No big deal.

Honestly, I just went dressed normal, like everyday. The woman at the salon gave me a strapless bra to use while trying dresses on.

Re: Important Question
I dressed normal. My bridal consultant was crafty when it came to rearranging my bra to fit the dress. Some shops I went to let me a strapless bra.

Re: Important Question
I also wasn't too comfortable with a strangle lady seeing me in my skivies so I wore my own strapless bra and put on spanx. At least you're a bit more covered with them, they're like tan bike shorts!

Re: Important Question
First time in David's Bridal the consultant told me I wasn't allowed to put the dresses on alone nor was my mother allowed to help me, but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th time I was in the dressing room with my mother, my MOH and eventually by myself putting the dresses on with no help. I don't like being in front of people with no clothes on. I brought my own strapless bra and they lent me a slip.
Good luck....don't feel pressured.. your wedding is a year away. Unless you want a very specialized (like the type they only make 2 or 4 of) you have a bit of time.
when you try on dresses - each time just ask how long it would take to get in a dress to help you get a ball park idea.

Re: Important Question
I went straight from work to go dress shopping. I work with little kids, so I had on duckie socks. So I was trying on these beautiful dresses and my feet would poke out and there were the little yellow ducks!
I was also wearing a sports bra that day. It looked a little strange but it wasn't too bad. I also did not get a strapless gown.
My MOH helped me get dressed, the women at Macy's were very nice about who came with me. I was most comfortable with her.

Re: Important Question
I have to say that when I first went looking for gowns, I was wearing reg clothes and had on a reg bra. Well I didn't realize that they come in with you and help put the dress on. I was wearing underwear that was up my a** and no bra when putting the dress on. Talk about embarressment. Honestly I have to say, when I was younger I didn't care who was looking at me, but now a stranger seeing me nude... A bit weird. I went to BR in Massapequa, so if you go and your a bit shy I would wear some granny panties and a strapless.HA
