My cousin has an issue. She is a size 0 and she decides she wants to be a model. So she gets involved with one of grimey 'talent agency' scams in the paper. So to make a long story short, she got scammed about $600, probly more. She is now requesting that he take her face off their website and he is telling her that she has to pay an extra $40. He also refuses to give her a copy of whatever it is she signed that day, so she can know what she can do, and how much of the bargain they are holding up. First he said it was in their warehouse and then he said that he lost it. Is this legal? She has filed 2 reports with the BBB but she said they did nothing about her a refund or getting them to take her face off their website. What else can she do about this scumbag?

That is what I told her, but she doesn't have any money for a lawyer. There is nothing for consumers besides the BBB?

I don't know about this situation but tell your cousin do NOT give anyone money to get into modeling.
That is the first sign that something is up when they request money for you to get a portfolio and who knows what other crap.
Modeling is something if they want you they pay for you to be there.

You know these young people. She is 18 and head is as hard as a nut. But this slimebag is just gross. How can he refuse to give her something she signed when she paid him. I thought you had to give someone a copy of any agreement/contract signed? i am no lawyer but that just to has to be illegal...no?

Tell her to call one of those 'shame on you' or '7 on your side' numbers. Look on the local TV websites.... i have seen this on the news before, such a shame that there are people like this out there.
