In Law Question

In Law Question

What do you call your in-laws? Also what will you call them after the wedding?

I kinda never call them anything, lol. I avoid it since I feel funny calling them by their first names. I think FH is like this with my parents too. It is so weird I know. My FBIL's gf calls them mr. and mrs. b____ but that bothers me so much.

I call them both by their first name without hesitation. I won't call them Mom and Dad.

to be honest with you I don't know what to call my FMIL, I think about it sometimes, I feel funny calling her by her first name and I feel funny calling her mom - I was thinking of calling her Mamma Franca since she is italian and that would sound better than calling her Signora Franca.

FH calls my parents by their first names, but I feel it's different bc my parents are younger so they don't mind. They actually told him to call them by their first names. I would feel funny calling his mom by her first name.

LOL, I don't call them anything. It's just awkward, I don't know how to explain it. FH call my mom, mom, and since my dad is my step-dad we both call him by his first name.

Not sure how long I can go on not calling them anything

Most of the time I call them Mr. and MRs. and then they always tell me to call them by their first names, which feels funny to me. But once we are married I will then call then by their first names. Don't think I can ever do mom or dad..lol

Haha I don't really call them anything either! Whenever I write them a thank you card or something I write Mr. and Mrs. though.

Re: In Law Question

I've avoided really calling them anything, but I call them Mr. & Mrs. A right now. I have more of an issue with FH's grandparents and aunts and uncles...I never knew if I should call them Mr. & Mrs. or their first names, so I just don't call them anything! I would imagine after the wedding I'll just call everyone who they are, aunt, uncle, nan, pop, mom, and baba.

I call my FMIL Bobby's Mom...HAHA. And better yet, my FFIL I call Old Man... But if I am talkiing to close family about them, or directly to them, I usually call them Peg and Bob... yet lately, they are insisting on me calling them Mom and Dad... That'll take some time...

Re: In Law Question

When I was on good terms with FMIL, she said I could call her mom, I told her that while I appreciated the offer, I already had a mom and dad and would prefer to call her something else.....NOW I have many choice names for her, none I say to her face however but when FSIL had her daughter everyone started calling FMIL Gram, as in grandma so I call her that, I'm comfortable with that, and I don't speak to her too often....

Really funny is I actually call them Dil and Mil. I also call my future brother in law Bil and his wife Sil. Its very silly and keeps it light because they refer to themselves as Mom and Dad around me and I am not sure if I am comfy with that yet ya know

I call them Mr & Mrs....they told me to call them by their first names but I can't seem to do that. Maybe once we are married it will feel less awkward... its very weird tho I used to call my ex's parents by their first names all the time but for some reason I cant get comfy with the future in laws.
