I was wondering if there were any fellow BTB out there that are memorializing a loved one on their wedding day, either in ceremony or reception...
My mother passed away a few years ago, and this is extremely hard without her. I can't even imagine her not being there.... I was thinking of doing something to honor her this day.
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks!

Re: In Memory of....
My FHs father passed away 11 years ago of a heart attack, so instead of a favor we are making a donation in his memory to the American Heart Association. We wanted to do something special for him. Also, my grandpa passed away in Sept, and I am putting his police dept pin on the stem part of by BoK.
There are so many things you can do to remember your mother, I know a lot of people on here also do memorial candles for their loved ones. And I've seen people leave a chair empty at the ceremony with a rose on it or something to that effect. HTH!

Re: In Memory of....
We did a floating memorial candle for all our loved ones who have passed and we placed a collage photo frame next to it with some pictures and a poem.

Did you have this at the reception or at the ceremony?

Re: In Memory of....
I lost my mom a few years ago as well, so I understand what you are going through.
My DOJ is actually my mom's...before she passed away she marked certain jewelry for certain occasions, and this was what she had marked for my wedding day. We are also thinking of having a signature cocktail (calling it 'something blue') and having it a blueberry mojito. My mom got me into mojitos, so it's a subtle tribute to her.

We are...My father passed away and my FH's mother passed away. Before the ceremony starts we are having the officiant state that our ceremony is in dedication to our mother/father and that we would like to light a candle in their memory to forever burn throughout the night and to please take a moment of silence.
I am also having photos of them in their wedding attire along with my passed grandparents placed throughout my RH like on the fireplace mantle.

That's a very beautiful idea. Love the mojito idea too!

My mom passed away a few years ago too - and it is so hard doing all of this without her. She would love to be a part of my wedding and all of the planning. I am doing a few things in her memory - A memory table with a candle and some pics of her and some flowers; bok charm and I am wearing a pin that was hers - its heart shaped with crystals and blue rhinestones - it will be my something old and my something blue. Also, depending on whether I think I can do it without completely falling apart, I will dedicate a song to her during the reception (one that she always said she wanted to dance to at my wedding)
