I was wondering if there were any fellow BTB out there that are memorializing a loved one on their wedding day, either in ceremony or reception...
My mother passed away a few years ago, and this is extremely hard without her. I can't even imagine her not being there.... I was thinking of doing something to honor her this day.
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks!

My mom passed away a few years ago too - and it is so hard doing all of this without her. She would love to be a part of my wedding and all of the planning. I am doing a few things in her memory - A memory table with a candle and some pics of her and some flowers; bok charm and I am wearing a pin that was hers - its heart shaped with crystals and blue rhinestones - it will be my something old and my something blue. Also, depending on whether I think I can do it without completely falling apart, I will dedicate a song to her during the reception (one that she always said she wanted to dance to at my wedding)
OMG I am so sorry..... I know exactly what you are going thru... my mom would have loved to be planning every last detail of this wedding with me and I can't even explain how hard it is. i am sure you know. i love your ideas, i am thinking of doing the memory table idea.... I would love to dedicate a song to her at the reception but i am afraid it will be too hard for me. I honestly don't know how i am going to get thru that day...
And I've seen people leave a chair empty at the ceremony with a rose on it or something to that effect. HTH!
I love this idea - thanks for sharing

Thanks - that's such a pretty set. The song thing, like I said, I would love to do, but I think I might break down. I'll have to see how I feel that day. (But just 'talking' about it now is making me cry) It's definitely so hard not having them here with us. but I know she's watching over me and keeping an eye on things I'm sure your mom is doing the same

I Know, I am crying too
I have been since I posted this question.. didn't mean to upset anyone - just wanted a few ideas on how I can still keep her involved on that day even though she is not here.
I agree with you 100% they are both watching over us, guiding us and keeping us strong.

My brother is giving me away along with my mother. I am thinking of getting a memorial candle and amybe lighting it at the church as part of the ceremony.
At the reception, my brother and I are dancing to 'Dance With My Father'

First of all I am sorry you have to do all this wedding stuff without your mom. You just reminded me how lucky I am to have both my parents. My good friend lost her mom last year to cancer. I've been trying to find a way to help her remember her min art her wedding next summer. There are the generic ideas that are nice. Being an emotional mess I would need to do something more subtle. Maybe a song or a poem which I would know the meaning but keep it to myself. No matter what you decide, your mom will be with you and you'll remember her by your side the whole day!

My FHs father passed away 11 years ago of a heart attack, so instead of a favor we are making a donation in his memory to the American Heart Association. We wanted to do something special for him. Also, my grandpa passed away in Sept, and I am putting his police dept pin on the stem part of by BoK.
There are so many things you can do to remember your mother, I know a lot of people on here also do memorial candles for their loved ones. And I've seen people leave a chair empty at the ceremony with a rose on it or something to that effect. HTH!
I love the empty chair idea! Thank you so much!
You are very welcome. I thought it was such a touching tribute when I saw it at the wedding. I'm sorry your mom will not be there with you phsycially, but she will be there in spirit!
