In memory of questions??? XP from 08

Hi Ladies!

For those of you who did memorial candles......

Did you just have them at your ceremony? (we're doing a poem at the back of our prgrams)

Did you do a memorial table at your reception? Where was it located if you did it at the reception?

Can you please post pics of your memorial candles and how you set it up or plan to set it up?

I want to do a memorial candle in memory of my grandmother and FH's father. I've seen some candles...but I'm not sure how to go about setting it all up.

TIA

Ours was lit at the beginning of the ceremony, and afterwards it was moved to our table right behind my bo-k, and lit for the entire evening.

We are planning to have the RH set up a table and Im going to get a speical flower centerpiece with candles and then create a collage of pictures to put behind it of all the people that we want to honor (mostly our grandparents).

Here is the centerpiece I am thinking of using

We did a candle lighting at the beginning of our ceremony, with a prayer reading by the priest and a song played by the organist while we lit it.

We also had a poem and acknowledgment on the back of the program as well which read:

On this special day we would like to remember:

Sister of the Groom
“Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.”

Aunt of the Groom

We decided not to do anything at the reception. Not that I think there is anything wrong with that, but I wanted that moment to have a place and time during our religious ceremony and didn't want to bum anyone out at the reception. However I have seen them at other weddings and think they are very nice.

My Father passed away in 05, and my FH uncle passed away in 97, in which he was very close with....
So, we are of corse doing a poem and lighting a candle (well, 2) during the ceremony... we will bring the candle, that will have their name and dates on it, to the reception with their personal vases, which will also have their names and dates. We will have a slide show, hopefully, play at one point and have some nice song playing with it. You can get the personalized candle and vases nice and cheap from oriential trading... believe it or no they have a huge wedding setcion.... Good luck

I plan on setting my memorial candles ontop the piano inside the reception hall. My guestbook and placecards will be on the piano as well. Along with the candles, I will have a picture in honor of each. Our florist will place votives and rose petals.

I ordered my memorial candles at JeanM and I also plan on clergy to announce remberance at our ceremony (both FH parents are deceased)
