My shower is coming up soon and all of the responses are in--except for one. The response date was last week. This person never responded to my e-party either. I let that go bc her mom was really sick and I know her head wasn't into it. Her mom unfortunately passed away a few months ago. She is still very sad--obviously and really not herself. I sent her a text yesterday asking her to respond bc my cousin needed a count. She never responded to my text. I saw her today and she was saying how she has been to all these places this summer with her friends. So then why couldn't she respond? She sent me a text a few minutes ago that she will email my cousin in a little while. My question is: Was my response too harsh? I said that the response date was last week and out of 90 people invited, she was the only one not to respond. It's ok not to come but it's rude not to respond. She responded that I was rude to say that to her bc she is upset. Ok BUT, she went to a bbq today and has been going out all summer. She couldn't email a response? Am I the wrong one here?

Re: In need of advice...
i wouldnt feel bad about it. she's obviously still grieving and i wouldnt hold her previous actions against her. i would have asked her to respond as well. if i were you, i'd imove on from the rsvp issue, and just try to spend some time with her and support her during this difficult time.

Honestly, I wouldn't sweat it. Especially since she has experienced a major thing in her life. If it were me I would've just let that one response go, even if I had 5 that didn't respond I wouldn't ask them. To me if they didn't respond then they aren't coming. Maybe it's just difficult for her to face certain things right now like wedding related stuff, a bbq is innocent, weddings bring a lot of emotion and maybe she's just not ready for that.

I can totally understand how you feel. I was so mad when people didn't respond to my shower and wedding. It's really frustrating especially since you know that she's out doing fun things with her friends. I think although it was wrong of her to not respond, I would maybe let it go and see what happens for the wedding. I'm sure she is going through a rough time but it literally takes one minute to rsvp for something.
