In need of some color matching advice...

Okay so does that rule still stand about gown/grooms shirt? My gown is 'eggshell' with ivory lace and my groom wants to wear a white shirt. I don't even know what color eggshell really is, and in the bridal salon, everything looks yellowish due to the lighting. Please help...whats a bride to do?!!

As far as I know, 'eggshell' is sort of an off-white color...not white, not ivory. I don't think it would be a problem at all if the groom wears white. What you could do is bring a white shirt to the salon to hold it up to the dress when you get it in to see if there is a noticeable difference, if not you're good, if there is, you could try an ivory shirt.

I would go for the ivory shirt, since I think that would be more likely to look right with an off-white and ivory dress. While holding them up to each other might look ok, it does make a big difference in pictures for the dress/shirt to match.

We looked at the ivory shirt options with the tux and they were horrendous...so he's wearing white.

Hi crashing - I stressed over this way too much. My dress was ivory and I didn't like the ivory tux shirts (especially with the charcoal tuxes the guys were wearing). The tux place told me we HAD to do ivory shirts. Then spoke to my photographer and he said white would not be a problem. We went with white shirts and they were totally fine.

The bridal salon I went to actually took out different colored shirts to (a) show us the different colors (i.e. comparing the different colors to the dress) and (b) show us which color actually matches. This was so helpful, because I had not thought of this. Maybe you can check with your salon?

I just took randy( from say yes to the dress) book out of the library. He says groom should always wear a white shirt..even if dress is ivory? My question is then what do you do if you plan for the groom to wear an ivory tie?? Switch to a white tie too? Wear white shirt and ivory tie?? So confusing!

White shirt with ivory tie... gives some dimension and contrast.
