I was supposed to go to the nuerologist today (someone who i had seen already for headaches last year) and im supposed to go at 12 and they JUST called me to tell me that hes not taking patients today cause its the holiday!! ARE THEY CRAZY!!! i mean, come on.. you knew the holiday was going to be today before you made my appt... this stinks, and im not feeling good at all today i have the same pain as i had on sunday!! now i have to wait another week!! i asked the receptionist to have him call me if she talks to him.. who knows if she will... i cant go see someone else cause i could only do this on my lunch hour!! im more than upset!
OK, My REGULAR MD is calling in a precription for me!! THANK GOD!! i love that man!!!! so hopefully when i get home frank will have gotten it and i will feel better.. think i am going home at 5pm today!

i have to tell you - i have migraines... have had them since i was around 12.... nothing soothes my migraine besides a dark room while my head is under the covers & nothing i mean absolutely nothing on noise wise.... God forbid someone walk by me and makes even a stitch of noise...
Pete tried to be cute @ first - and don't get me wrong, i really appreciated his attempt - to rub my back & hair (which normally i love).... but even that was too much.
Now he knows - he leaves the room turning off the TV, turns out the lights, and draws the curtains.....
I would ask the doctor to refer you to a neurologist to discuss the possibility of migraines......

butalbital.. just until monday.. i took it.. but it upset my stomach bigtime. but im feeling better.. i still have the faint feelings of a headache though. and i dont want to take anything to help me sleep cause im afraid to mix meds..

Suzanne, Thta's the med I take and it kinda takes the edge off for me. I had something silimar to an anerysm which presented as migraines, so I can totally sympthize. When my pain comes I have to go into the bathroom, turn on the cold shower, turn off the lights and just lay down on the cold tile floor.(I know that sounds bizarre, but that's the only thing that soothes me! I don't mean to scare you, but I would definately request an MRI b/c there are things that a cat scan doesn't always show. Mr Dr said an MRI is more thorough. Keep us posted and good luck! TRy to take the med w/some food or milk. :)

I am glad at least what they gave you is helping a little bit.I also had migraines, but I only got them on a regular basis in 11th grade, now if I get one once every few years it's a lot. I know the pain you are feeling. They are horrible. I say the same, definetly get the MRI. I hope you feel better

Doc has me on Imitrex... which for me is an absolute Godsend.... I take them when I feel a migraine coming on which usually starts with an 'aura'.... you get used to the signs.... I would definitely talk to a neuro about migraines and see if maybe he can start you on meds for them....
I will warn you this though... Sometimes it can take a few trials of meds before you find the right one! I took a few different types of migraine meds before I found that the Imitrex worked for me.

LnP.. im definatly going to talk to him about the imitrex! i KNOW hes going to make me go for an MRI.. which i hate because im so claustrophobic.. but i have to have it...

Suzanne I take bubitital as well - if you take it with caffine it kicks in faster - it ONLY works for me if I take it the moment I start getting my lighting bolts. If I wait or don't have it on me then I'm really in trouble - b/c I won't be able to see to do work, drive or anything.
I'm suprised it makes you sick -could it be the headaches that make you sick? It is only acetomidiphine, aspirin, and codine

Yesterday i didnt take it with food, so i think thats what it was, and my stomach was BURNING...
I took it today, but i have to take 2 for them to work, and im not sick.. a little jittery but im good.. i have a SLIGHT headache but nothing compared to yesterday..
I am so excited to spend a weekend with no headache!! YAY!!!!!
I cant wait to spend tomorrow in my yard and then go to the movies!! YAHOOO

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get an appointment after the cancel fiasco. How frustrating!
Every now and then, I get those killer headaches where I need to be in a silent, pitch dark room. My only hope is 2 excedrine PMs and sleep.
