ok i woke up this morning and i had a sharp pain on my right side, but i went to work although i had to walk real slow the whole time while commuting bc if i walk even a little fast it hurts alot more...i get to work hoping it would just go away and it doesnt, ppl see im walking like a turtle at work lol everybody thought it was my leg...they sent me home since i was in pain and even called a car to take me home...im home now and im gonna relax and hope i feel better if not im gonna have to go to the doctor...
BUT here is my question for anybody who would know...ok the pain is on my right side so obviously theres a chance it can be my appendix, but im hoping its not, what else can it be?

hey babe, i'm a doctor and from what you're describing it could be a number of thing:
appendicitis (pain usually starts at your bellybutton and moves to the right side) gas muscle sprain (unlikely if you haven't been exercizing) ovarian cyst, ectopic pregnancy, ovarian torsion.....
it could be several things and I definitely don't want to freak you out but if the pain gets worse, if you see any discharge, nausea, vomiting etc... you need to get to the ER asap.

For possible appendicitis - do this test: Press down on your right lower side, hold for 5 seconds and let go. If it hurts MORE when you let go - then appendicitis is more likely.

one more thing - it could also be a kidney stone that you're passing. any difficulty urinating? if you punch your lower back on either side of your spinal cord - does it hurt?

I would go to the hospital... it could be gas, but I've had both a ruptured ovarian cyst AND a ruptured appendix and it can be really dangerous! I put off going to the hospital because I'm used to bad stomach pains and thought it would go away. I'm very very lucky I went to the hospital when I did because my appx had already ruptured.
You should get checked out! Lower right side right by hipbone sounds like the area for appx. Better safe than sorry...

Are you around the time where you would be ovulating (sorry if this is too personal)...like 3-7 days before Aunt Flo visits? It could be your egg bursting out of your ovary....i had that same feeling and was terrified that it might be appendicits. I went to the doctor (even though the pain wasn't unbearable)...and she told me it was gas at first. But then it happened again the next month and then she told me it was me ovulating. Some people are more sensitive to it than others.....and sometimes stress makes it feel worse.

There is the possibility of a UTI or a bladder/kidney infection. Your best option is to give your DR a call and see what he has to say, maybe go in for an exam. It's probably nothing, but you should have it checked out just in case.

'I have this pain like once a couple of months.. depending on what I eat.. If I eat heavy fatty foods, I get it... they told me its probably my gallbatter.. gallstones... or what not. I havent had any tests done, which Im sure I should (FH gets angry when I complain and do nothing about it) But I have been assured it was not appendicitis. You would have extreme pain when you press that radiates through your lower abdomen and possible fever and vomitting.. pretty, huh? keep us updated.. hope you feel better!

maybe its restless leg syndrome??? Its nothing I get sharp pains like that all the time in my left leg. I also sit different when Im on the comp and my ribs and in that area hurts like helll sometimes. Take a muscle relaxer and it should go away. Maybe you worked out a wrong way, you were walking with high shoes etc etc, many factors can contribute

Sounds like appendix, but, with back pain, maybe a urinary issue; I would definitely see a Dr. If your appendix would burst, you could get peritonitis, and you don't want that. Nor do you want a urinary/kidney issue to become a bigger problem!! Mary MOB

its both, when i walk its a sharp pain and when im just sitting its a dull constant pain
Reading your other posts, it does sound like gallbladder. Same thing I had and the pain radiates to your back. I would go see the doctor. I had to have mine taken out.

My dad has these same pains last year. He went to the ER and they said it was gas pains. Whatever it is, if it really hurts, go to the doctor. Feel better!!!

if its pain thats in the back and radiates to the front groin area it can be anything to do with the kidneys, stones, infection UTI... if its kidney stones theres just alot of back pain no problems urinating... so thats where my ?'s start.. Fever?, nausea? vomiting? diarrhea?, does it hurt when you pee? it you push on your stomach on the right side does the pain 'shoot' anywhere?

Go to the doctor today, not tomorrow! None of us are doctors (or if someone here is, they are not with you, examining you) -- we can guess all we want, it will just drive you insane. Hopefully you'll go, and it will be nothing, but better safe than sorry! Good luck, and feel better!
