In response to the Oprah thread

i heard about this several months ago and oprah's new season starts next week so it was a repeat

the book was not released

additionally, the reason why they purchased the publishing rights is to NOT PUBLISH IT
in other words, if they own the rights, they choose to or not to publish it

they did it just so that they would own the rights to the book, certainly NOT to make money off of their son's death

The new season started the 10th in NY. This was a new episode. The Goldmans will publish the book and 17 cents per book will go to them (90 percent of the profits). They view the book as a confession. They also say they stop him from making money off of it by purchasing the rights. Its on the Oprah website. It would have been nice if they bought the rights and never published it but they chose to make money off of it which is strange and sad.

They also try to justify their actions by saying this book can help victims of abuse.

hmmmm
weird
how can 17 cents per book be 90% of the profits?

Im not a math whiz, just going by what the Oprah website says.
'Fred and Kim say that publishing the book and taking 90 percent of the profits—which will amount to 17 cents per book—is a form of restitution.'

maybe they are selling it at a purchase price that is so close to close--that the 17 cents is the profit?

i really wish they wouldn't publish it. how is the book going to help ppl who are being abused??? alll it is is - is an extremely graphic description of two ppl being murdered.

17 cents per book is what they will be making. I do understand that they will be stopping OJ from making money off of it. But I doubt thats what OJ wants. He wants the book out there and theyre giving him that satisfaction. Maybe if they were donating the money to a fund it would make me feel a tiny bit better. But its like they feel like theyre owed this money from him since they havent received money from the civil suit yet. If I were Ron Goldmans fam, I would have purchased the right and burned it.

yeah i mean i get how they want to make sure OJ never maks $$ off of it--but this is just so sad. i agree with you--it should be BURNED and never be read by anyone. OJ disgusts me and the fact that he did this book at all shows what a sick f**k he is. i mean who the hell dpes that! describes in gory details how they *might* have committed a crime?

ugh he is worthless human being and i feel such pity for the victim's families---as well as his children. how must they feel about this?

Re: In response to the Oprah thread

Its just horrible. And Nicoles sister Denise is saying how she wants none of this blood money. The book depicts her sister as a drug addict. She's dead and not only is this piece of crap book written by her murderer going to be published, now theyre going to **** on her name. All cause of the Goldmans. People are so ridiculous sometimes.

Okay, I just realized its 4 am. Time for bed!
