Did you start packing in your 7th or 8th month or did you wait for your 9th month???

Re: In what month did you pack for the hospital
I was due August 10th and I had everything packed by the 4th of July! I really thought I'd go early but, wound up going two days late. I actually forgot what I packed by the time I went to the hospital!!!

I still haven't packed yet and I am due in 4 1/2 weeks. I will probably pack this weekend.

9th, waited until the week before my due date... nothing like waiting till the last minute.

Re: In what month did you pack for the hospital
I started packing a month before but finished packing the day before I went into labor (nurse at my OB's office basically told me that I was having Ava in the next 24 hours) and the last minute stuff as I was leaving to go to the hospital.
Trust me, NOT fun packing while your water is breaking and in the middle of a contraction

Technically, I packed my bag when my water broke and contraction started which was exactly three weeks before my due date. I had my list of what I needed prepared over a month in advance - I had somplications and almost went into labor over a month and a half in advance so I planned to pack as soon as that happened...but was so busy in January - I never got around to packing. Luckily, the day before my water broke I had finished shopping for many of the things I needed/wanted to buy and them all laid out in my office. But as my water was breaking - I had DH doing laundry so I would have clean underwear and casual clothes to wear home and in the hospital.

Re: In what month did you pack for the hospital
I started packing my bag after my lamaze coach gave us a list of some things I would need. So that would be my 8th month. Just different things like a nursing bra, slippers, a robe, and toiletries. I figure if I am going to buy them I might as well pack them. We are going to keep the bag in the car, just in case... Also I keep my digital camera on me at all times in my pocketbook! I would be devastated if I go into labor at work and wind up at the hospital without my camera!!

I was going to pack and then had a big surprise when my daughter decided to come into the world 5 weeks early.

I am thinking maybe I will start packing as I buy the stuff I need.
Question:
Hospitals are they generally cold or hot? I don't know how heavy of PJs should I bring?

Re: In what month did you pack for the hospital
I think it probably depends on the hospital... I doubt that hospital blankets are very warm either. Probably the best thing to do is to have layers just incase.. PJ pants, with a tank top and a long sleeve shirt. I've been told that your feet are always cold when you are in labor so remember to pack a nice pair of socks!

In the hospital I wore a short sleeved night shirt. They come and check your blood, take blood, check for swelling and stuff so I found short sleeves/easy access was good for me. If you plan on breast feeding you may want to consider a top that wil be more convenient for that (I did not breast feed). I brought a robe so when I walked around (which I did a lot since my baby was in NICU) I wore that and comfy socks and/or slippers. One night I woke up sweating but I personally think it was me and I was releasing some of the water I had been retaining. The next night I was freezing but they gave me extra blankets. Many girls I saw wore pj sets - I pretty much saw half of the VS catalog pj sets in the hospital.
